What Do You Do with a Tail Like This? (Caldecott Honor Book)

Customer Reviews

My boys LOVE this book
It's fun and educational. My kids have a blast guessing which animal belongs to what tail, nose, etc. Sure to bring lots of giggles while being a covert teaching aide.
Different approach to animals
I like the different approach that book gives while introducing kids to "Animals". Instead of introducing Gorilla as an animal it refers to it's feet and how they use it. The collage based images are wonderfully done and the information is amazing.
Disapppointment
I don't know why, but my three year old granddaughter does not like this book and refuses it every time it is offered. Any thoughts?
A Definite Winner
I can easily see why What Do You Do With a Tail Like This? is a Caldecott Honor Book. The cut-paper collage of animals is very artistic, and the way the book is written is very creative. A small portion of five animal parts (either noses, ears, tails, eyes, mouths, or feet) are shown, and you are to guess which animal the part belongs to and how it is used. Even if your children can easily figure out and memorize what they are looking at, I think they can have fun with this book for a long time. There is a good chance that some of the 30 animals in the book will be uncommon to you. Some of the animals found in Jenkins' and Page's book include the African elephant, striped skunk, blue-footed booby and giant anteater. In the back of the book you can find out more interesting facts about the animals. You and your kids will definitely gain from reading this book. I highly recommend it.
Thanks
Book came quickly and in great condition. We love this book! Thank you!

My grandson loves it
I bought this book for my grandson who is now 10 months old. He loves looking at the pictures and watching his Nana make a fool of herself while she sings the song. I like the fact that the music notes are included on the back of the book. I had forgotten the melody so that really helped.
Head and shoulders above the rest
My daughter loves the illustrations, and this is one of the books that gets her up and dancing. Many books are great to listen to, but this makes her get up and do a little dance.
Beware, iPad users!
iPad users beware. This is in black and white!! No color inside.Really not for the iPad.
A delightful toddler song captured with endearing illustrations!
All toddlers hear this song---from parents, librarians, preschool teachers---and here it is in a charming book with very cute illustrations. A winning combination!
Cute book for little kids just learning the song
This book is a very cute addition to the toddler literature. My little guys love singing the song and it is great for them to see the motions on the pages as well. It is not quite as good as some of the others in the series, but still a good purchase for the price. Especially for those kids who cannot get enough books!

Fairy Tales Every Child Should Know

ORIGINAL FAIRYTALES
I bought this to read to my kids before bed. They love hearing how the stories are supposed to be told. It's a great read.
Needs Better Navigation
I enjoyed most of the Fairy Tales in this book. However the navigation (or lack thereof) makes it difficult to find a particular story.
Pat Watson, Barrington Hills, Illinois
Hey Folks, This is a enjoyable read for those of us over the age of eight; or a mature younger child. At forty-eight I enjoyed spending a lazy Sunday afternoon reading these tales in their purist form. As far as one reviewer posting that there was anti-semetic typing in one of the Arabian tales, hummm did not get that, but did read enough stereo-typing that might be offensive to any and all cultural, racial, and religious groupings who want to make these great reading silly tales of old into something political. One cannot feign offense just for self without mentioning how any could find offense in these ancient adult camp fire tales.

Some Could Have Been Left Out
I'm a 22 year old girl, so this may be why I was appealed to it. What I liked about it is that I got to read the real stories and compare them to what I learned as a child from other books and Disney. It was crazy how some stories were so different from what they are now today. I do think though, that a few of the stories were way longer than necessary and I like the idea of short stories better. There were quite a few that I tried to read the beginning and just ended up skipping through.
Lots and lots of fairy tales
I am reading this book to my 6 year old on my son's iPod. It is actually relatively easy to read on it and great for a road trip. If you like real fairy tales, this is a good collection.

Great movie if you love FF7
If you haven't played final fantasy seven then you might not see whats so great about this movie, but visually its still very entertaining.
Good Product
The product came in on time and the movie is great, I would have given it 5 stars if the box cover came in black like they advertised.
LOVED IT
This... I just.. wow.

I fell in love with Sephiroth all over again, and developed a crush on Zack, Cloud, Reno.. and dammit!Rufus.

That's quite an achievement coming from me.

I have the original version, which I waited over two years for... and I'd seen it a total of 25 times in two weeks after I bought it.
Excellent Movie!
I will never regret buying this epic movie! The graphics are insane and the story line just tells you what kind of company Square Enix is: An excellent company that spends several years creating intensely epic story lines that will not falter in years to come!
Better then the original DVD and UMD in everyway, shape, and form.
If any FF game is a true legend among legends its Final Fantasy VII ... and Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children was a true epic movie sequel that surpassed everything related to FF overall, that includes that sorry excuse for a FF game that is FFXIII, i compare the original movie to FFXIII because XIII is more like a Movie overall then it is a game, poor gameplay, stupid characters and a lack of fun in general, however it does have pretty graphics and nice CGI effects worthy to be called "Movie-Like" and even still the original FFVII: AC movie blows FFXIII out of the water...

But with Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete with the extra footage as many others have stated, with new voices for some characters that fit better (Marlene, Denzel, Etc...) New lines added for a fair amount of characters, new actions, Reno & Rude play bigger roles this time around, so do the kids. Oh and Blu-Ray does make a big change to the original. the HD 1080p and Sound Effects are noticeable VASTLY improved over the original, to people who say Blu-ray makes little change compared to DVD are downright stupid or in denial of being biased against it.

Anyways overall Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete doesn't only blow the original DVD versions out of the water, it blows EVERYTHING else FF related out of the freakin ocean!

It also contains a few tid-bits from the PSP exclusive game Crisis Core: FFVII! as an added bonus.

So overall with all these improvements the best FF title ever made just got better. With this, maybe square enix is still worthy after all.

Wonderful Book!
We love this book! Right after we took it out of the box, we read it and LOOOOOVED it! My 6 1/2 month old son smiled and giggled at each page, eager to see what was next. I can't wait to see what else this author has!
Good
Nice book, the last page as some people mentioned generate a good reaction in my son.... try it.
one of the all time favorites
My son has loved this book for well over a year. He is 22 months and still loves it. I have to buy another copy since he spent his time teething with this book. I don't get too tired of reading it either. You will love it!
Great for Young Babies
I admittedly found this book inane when we first bought it for my then one-year-old. She enjoyed looking at it a few times, and then we put it aside. I started reading it to my second child when she was 2 months old, and 9 months later, this is still the only book she will sit still for! She will bring the book to me and even mimics the sounds. I would not recommend this for children already over one, but Peek A Who? is a great introduction to books for young babies.
One of her favorites!
My daughter loved this book right away and it's still one of her favorites! (She's 13 months now - was about 7 months when we bought it.) It's a great concept - partially hidden pictures where you have to turn the page to see what's there - very few words - rhymes on every page. And the fact that there's a mirror at the back totally seals the deal - what could be better to a baby? :-)

Children have heavy requests for Santa Claus this year

Perhaps this year, the hope and joy Santa Claus brings to children is more important than ever, at least so said St. Nick after his Wednesday visit to Haines City's Breakfast with Santa at the Lake Eva Community Center.

"This year, there have been more children asking for dresses, for shoes," said the Jolly Old Elf in a candid interview after the event. "I even had one little girl ask me for a home because her family had no where to live. It just breaks your heart."

However, despite the number of children this year asking Santa Claus for clothes, homes and jobs for out-of-work parents, The Man in Red said he feels it's his job to give encouragement to disheartened children.

"All you can do is offer them encouragement that things will get better," said Santa, who has been making appearances at Haines City, Dundee, Sunshine Village and Heart of Florida Hospital events for the past four years. "Being Santa Claus, it's all about providing happiness for the kids. I tell them to be a good kid, and I'll see what I can do about their requests."

EC, I would buy that if children were not gender from the day they were born. Listening to people say that their two years old refuses to nothing, but always wore pink dresses gives me a nightmare. Yes, his son two years. She is a diva streak. I am unshakable.

Anyway, this is actually quite enormous. It is not rid of the princesses, most commentators are rich I'm steady number to carry out, but a moment ago that girls r models that may be more appropriate for them Barbie Dream sleeping and his army of equally innocent women who demand to be rescued by a prince, which was euphonious much everything I had grown up.Also carved sticks, built forts, climbed trees, loved Legos and video games (yet) and asked things like Swiss Army knives (my male cousins got), but every Christmas, but nothing brought more Barbies and pink castle, because EC people like to pretend it's something to create heart and that's what I wanted.

Do not invent that a "overfeminist" Communiqu here, since the top of the tower is still princessified our customs. Jokes, go to a freaking Toys 'R' Us and the loss of me is "overfeminist. http://contexts. org/socimages/2008/06/24/what-kids-learn-at-toys-r-us /
