After all the good reviews I thought I was going to get a quality toy... I guess it's a gamble.. Ours worked for a few minutes then stopped working.. Batteries replaced but no luck... Paid full price and shipping so I wasn't pleased.

Owned for 4 years and its still running...Great Beginner RC!!
After seeing the reviews, I decided to write mine, I see most folks who rated this toy a 1 star said it didn't work, maybe it was a bad batch but I've had this car for 4 years now and it still works like new!!! The only down part is the amount of batteries it takes. Both of my sons are 3 and 5 and they have ran the car through the wringer (threw it, hit walls, sent tumbling down the steps, etc.). I highly recommed this as a child's first introduction to RCs. Your kids will love it, out of all the toys I've given away or thrown out, this one and the Chico Jeep RC has been a keeper.

Great car
I read the other posted reviews and almost did not buy this car but I am glad I did. My 6 month old loves it and it works great. It is just what a first car should be: easy to use, not fancy, durable. If you are looking for a first remote car for your child I think this car is great and my son thinks so too.

Cheap product
This toy was bought for our son when he was about two. It has never worked properly. The batteries die only after a couple of short uses.
We could live without this toy! It is currently no longer played with.

Wish I Could Still Retun It
I loved this car for my son, who had a great time playing with it twice until the car died. I cannot figure out what happened because the batteries are brand new. From reading these reviews, I am assuming that it may have been left on and the 6 required batteries are now garbage. I have never come across a child's toy that doesn't have a power save mode. This car is poorly made and if I had saved the packaging, I would definitely bring it back. For now, it is just a push around toy...it's cute the way the remote fits into the car, but it's comepletely useless now.

Don't buy this
This item is a reject we bought it for my son's 5th birthday. He open it and was so excited to get it out and try it. He drove in around in the cabin a bit then out into the yard he went. After he got the hang of it I told him it could go in water too. So he drove it down to the beach and into the lake after about 30 seconds in the water it quit working. I let it dry and then it would work sometimes for about 5 seconds then quit. Later that day the remote would be activated even tho nobody was touching it (red light on remote lets you know it's activated. Also now if you turn on the car it goes in a circle and you can't stop it even with the batteries out of the remote. So about 5 minutes of fun and now we have another toy he loves but can't use!!!!!!!!

Great value
These little guys blast around, the batteries seem to last for hours and hours and are the best thing that I could find before stepping up to close to $100 for much higher-end toys. My 4 year-old son hasn't really mastered the steering yet but the toys are great.

Great toy if you only want to play with it twice
I should have listened to the review that said 'this toy will break, if you buy it and it stops working then I told YOU'. This toy worked once right after we bought it. The batteries were dead the next day. Replaced them. Used it once more for an hour, had a lot of fun. Batteries ran out. Replaced them. Then we tried to use it a third time at the beach and it worked for about 5 minutes and then quietly passed away. Now the wheels don't turn at all. It is totally dead. Such a waste of money. Disappointing because my son loved this toy for the few minutes when it worked.

Please read before you buy
I've been playing RC cars ever since I was 4. I have switched to mini indoor rc cars such as mini-z, epoch 1/43, digi-q, bit-char-g, xmods and so on. I also still have big rc cars from nikko and tamiya.

First, the picture on Amazon is wrong, this gator car has NO lights. May be the older version one had them but not this one. Therefore not only the picture is wrong the description is also wrong. I hope Amazon can correct this soon.

I bought this one not knowing it has no lights. Not only that, the car has intermittent problem. It suddenly stops and it won't start again. My eneloops were fully charged both in remote and car, I also confirmed with my multimeter as well. Just for the sake of doing stupid test, I replaced the eneloops with my brand new alkalines - same result. I can't isolate the problem but I believe it's internal wiring which I'd rather not mess around to void warranty.

The biggest blow was - during the few minutes the car was working, I was very puzzled. I understand the 4x4 system is different than normal car but why when the right button is pushed forward the car is going to left? It contradicts and confuses the hell of my kids. Before they got more confused I gave it a try as well and I dislike this very much.

I decided to return - I can't stand this product and I can't recommend this to anyone.

No working headlights
We bought another to replace one from last Christmas that suffered at the hands of a friend's child, and much to our child's disappointment, the headlights are no longer designed to light up. Very durable in water and dirt, decent motor, decent controls, and I would recommend it, but the lack of headlights made me want to return it.

Dosen't work
I got it, opened it and it said to charge it for 4 hours. So I did it, but when I tried to make it go forward it only did a short burst!!! So I have to send it back and replace it!

Good basic inexpensive R/C car
This is a great toy for the inexperienced child looking for hours of fun with no maintenance other than charging batteries. The car looks great, the controls are basic, and it goes fast enough to be fun but not fast enough to break itself. Best driven indoors or on flat pavement outdoors because it has about 3/16" ground clearance. The steering is all-or-nothing here, no digital-proportional stuff going on, so it will be jerky and imprecise - but that can still be fun and educational, improving timing and hand/eye coordination. The tires are hard rubber, which will be very durable, but which skid easily on flooring. This makes for some fun skids and donuts and things, but sometimes has less control than you want. A light thumb on the throttle can fix this, but then you're driving slower.

This product is a great value for $20, recommended for beginners. You won't be upgrading this car or winning any races or obstacle courses with it - but then you won't be making six trips/month to the hobby shop and spending three times the purchase price on replacement parts, either.

Great car for chasing cats inside the house.

Perfect!
I didn't think ti would be such great product, although the remote control is ugly looking, not attractive at all, but everything from that is perfect, an the idea of rechargables battery's is a genius, no more thousands of battery's and money wasted!!

Great Toy
This remote controlled truck works well, better than others we've owned in the past. It even includes all of the necessary batteries. My kids love it. It turns both directions and appears to be of good quality, as you'd expect from Fisher-Price/Mattel.

Ignore the poor reviews - there may be some anti-Toyota sentiment here.

Not very impressed
This toy was bought for my nephew. Right out of the box. it has trouble with turning and handling. It would also get stuck, and you would have to shut it off and turn it back on.
I would not purchase this product again.

Lots of FUN
This was a bought as a Xmas present for my Grandson whio is 7 and he LOVES it. I like it because it doesn't take a battery pack that you have to wait four hours to charge before thay can play with it. The batteries last a long time and the truck is very durable.

No turns.
I bought this for my son's 6th birthday, You would think being a Hot Wheels it would be a good product! Not so, It does go forward and backwards nice but only turns to the left I tried adjusting the sterring under the body but no luck. Over all my son played with it about 15 min and put it down because as he stated " It wont turn "

He loves it
We bought this for his second birthday. It does stop sometimes, then you have to turn it off and on again. Tell your kid(s) right away not to lift it by the antenna, but by the wheels.

Fun as long as you use good quality batteries
We bought this remote control toy for our sons' 7th birthday. We bought the Kodak batteries, available for purchase on this site, to use in it. It went quit slow and wouldn't go at all on our carpet. Once we changed the batteries to the best we could find, it worked well. Still goes best on cement or tile. But is ok on carpet and grass, nothing spectacular. We used it once in a small swimming pool to test out the water. It went ok, but again, nothing spectacular.
We also bought the gator version of this toy for our other son. It is a little cooler because it has working headlights. But if you have two children, the Shark and Gator can be used at the same time because they work at different frequencies.
Overall, for the money spent, it's a good toy. Just make sure you use good quality batteries.

Fun for parents too
This is a nice little remote control car for younger kids. If your getting more than 1 make sure you check Kid Galaxy website and get ones of different frequency or they cannot be used together. We bought 2 and one stopped working within a week of Christmas. Emailed Kid Galaxy and they sent me a new one, no hassle. They are both working well now. We sue rechargable batteries and they do fine. Have held up well to indoor play so far! Best we've found yet if you are looking for a remote control car that is simple, durable and fun (they spin pretty fast, reverse, forward, climb a little). Can't wait to try it in the water!

Very disappointed
Purchased this for my 6 year old son and he enjoyed it while it worked. Unfortunately the on/off switch broke in one day.
I also purchased the Stingray and the movement is far slower than the shark. I don't know if it was designed that way or a defect. Very disappointed in make and durability and will not buy these series again.
