Good transformerIt is a very difficult to transform the first few times. After you got it down, it is a real fun toy. Real realistic to the movies.
Shame on Amazon!
this was an absolutely gorgeous toy!i got it when it was still 33.95!The blades are a small issue because of articulation being hindered by them.i knew how to remove them, but because it was probably used one of the screws that needed to be removed was completely stripped out of box! luckily we found a store that removed the stripped screw and had new ones. But the toy is wonderfully detailed, lots of fun good sounds.Although i must warn you, the transformation is HARD!!!don't say it is misleading with the age 5+ sign, that is the choking safety sign! at the top right corner it says level 4 transformation witch is the highest level. for difficulty, I'd say 10+.when u learn it it is easy.I learned amazon may be cheaper, but it is safer to buy from Hasbro.if u are the type of parents who are not very good at this type of thing, and u buy it for a five-year-old,u will both be in tears. it is only bad if it is the wrongs parents buying for the wrong kids.
The coolest toy/puzzle I have ever owned. Not for impatient kids.
I was never much of a Transformers fan before the first 2007 movie. When I was a kid, I thought the toys were cool but I never owned any. I've bought most of the Leader Class Transformers from both movies and while I very much like the design of all of them (with the exception of Megatron) this version of Optimus is by far the most complex and awesome toy of the bunch. Other reviewers have stated that this is definitely not a toy for 5 year olds. They are correct. I would say the youngest child to actually figure this thing out would have to be around 12 or so. It's just way to complex for most people in general much less little children.
It's best to approach this toy (pretty much all of the Leader Class versions) as if it were an expensive puzzle that you didn't want to break. If you are the impatient type, don't bother. If you have clumsy sausage fingers don't bother either! Considering how complex this toy is, I think it's fair to say that it is very durable. You just have to use some care and think about what's going to happen before you go ripping his arm off. Slow, deliberate movements are what's needed the first few times you change him from robot to truck and then back again. As one person had stated in a previous review, once you have successfully transformed him a few times, it's waaaaay easier to do it again. The same can be said for the other leader class models as well. (Brawl and Ultimate Bumblebee are particularly difficult.) I have deliberately taken several hours to transform all off the transformers I own to avoid breaking them. It paid off. With this version of Optimus (I actually have the "Buster" version. It's the same toy, with the exception of having lots of nice shiny chrome and the added bonus of gigantic cannon that he holds in his right hand.) I spent probably 5 hours transforming him from robot to truck on the first go around. After that, I could do it in less than ten minutes.
Other reviewers have complained about the instructions. They're right when they say they pretty much suck, but they do help. This is a toy that will make you think. I'll be the first to admit that after an hour or so of staring at a series of black & white drawings you may start to think you're never going to get it transformed, but don't give up. Once you've figured it out, you will be quite pleased with yourself! You may also gain an entirely new appreciation of the engineering of this toy. It's truly a work of art. My hat goes off to all the people responsible for creating the most movie realistic version of the mighty Optimus ever made.
The most difficult part of the process for me was transforming his chest area to the truck mode. You actually have to pull each side of his chest out of the slots that they ride in. Once I had figured out what I actually had to do I was terrified that I was going to break it, but I didn't.
Another complaint I've read is the positioning of his extendable swords in robot mode interfering with his movement and posing of his arms. At first it seemed impossible for me to arrange him so that he could still move his arms around when the swords were in their closed position. However, it wasn't. Just be patient, and there actually is a "sweet spot" for both arms to have almost total articulation whether the swords are closed or open. Overall, this character is very posable. Most of the images I've seen of this character don't come close to how cool you can make his stance. Standing bolt upright looks completely dumb!
I wouldn't recommend this toy for daily use either. Its best market is probably for collectors, only to be transformed once in awhile and displayed on a shelf to admire its beauty, accuracy and complexity. I love the commercials that Hasbro had running for these toys. They are completely misleading on how long it takes to change them around. Also, you wouldn't want to be playing with any of these toys in a dirt pile after you dropped almost $50 on it!
Bottom line, it's a great toy for the price but don't give it your 5 year old. If you do purchase it, remember to take your time and just enjoy yourself. It really is a puzzle to be figured out.
Best of the best if you pay attention to what you buy!!!
Transformers is a well established multigenerational franchise. It appeals to fans and collectors way back from the original 80s merchandise to the modern and contemporary concepts introduced with the latest Michael Bay's movies. This means customers targeting goes from toys designed for small children, all the way up to thirty somethings adult collectors. This Optimus Prime is intended for the last.
To be honest, the design of it is not as complex as some reviewers had tried to point out. Their problem may reside in if they purchased this product for the right targeted age. True, there is also another version of this product labeled on its packaging as suitable for 5 & up years old. But this, obviously, is intended for parents that wants to encourage their children with challenging toys that require a higher degree of care and patience. The fun factor of this kind of product comes not from the time spent playing with it as a toy or action figure, but instead from the time and challenge it requires to transform it from one mode to the other and back. So, as some reviewer compared it to a rubick cube, the fun of it is in the challenge and the satisfaction of acomplishment you get when succedding at the end.
For its complexity and attention to detail, to this day, this might be the more accurate and detailed version of movie Optimus Prime. Very well assembled. High quality materials.
Also, this Buster Prime version has chrome painting and details not found on the regular version, such as a gas tanks that combine to transform in to a gun.
Very recommended for any collector and to any parent that wants to encourage their children to new degrees of patience and challenge.
Optimus Prime Rules!
My son has written this review:
This Optimus Prime is awesome! The features for this toy are lights and sounds and a
voice recording of Peter Cullen saying "I am Optimus Prime!".It also includes Mech Alive moving parts and orange blades which pop out when buttons are pressed. It's very thin and detailed compared to the first movie's Prime. The problem with it are that the toy is a little difficult to transform at first, but as you practice a little, you get the hang of it.But if you are trying to pick one of the three Leaders, get this one.
Overall this is a great toy.

Great set for fansThis is a great set for the child in us all. the box itself opens up just like the matrix of leaderships which is really neat. The content is great including all of the episodes from the G1 series, oddly missing the movie though. The biggest drawback is the DVD cases themselves. The ones i received were very thin card board with and i kid you not the discs that sat in plastic bags thing disc shaped wal-mart bags. the DVDs themselves were actually a little roughed up due to this fact. One DVD even had the glue the glue melt from the cardboard onto the data side so I'm not sure if it's damaged or not as of this writing. The dvd cases i've already unfortunately torn trying to get the discs out because of aforementioned plastic bags. Overall the collection is good but i'd recommend getting some hard cases or cd sleeves to put the discs in and just holding onto the cardboard cases for the art that they are
Great Set
I bought this for my husbands birthday. He loves it. It comes with some extras that made the set even better. And if you buy it from Amazon it is over $50 cheaper then Best Buy.
FANTASTIC VOYAGE
Having watched the RHINO releases before this. I have to say that the SHout Factory version is by far superior. THey have fixed many of the issues that Rhino put in when the tried to fix the pre broadcast videos they used.
THe packaging in the Matrix Edition is just simply... wow! THe sliding sides to reveal the full Matrix spark that is then lifted up to show the goodies. From beginning to end the picture quality is clear as a bell, much clearer than Rhino's.
The only issue is that Season 3 episodes are out of order in the continuity sense. I understand that that was due to a directive from HAsbro but, Octane finding "Starscreams GHost" while on the run from the Decepticons is before the episode (THief in the Night) that show's why the Decepticons are after him in the first place.
A minor issue (except that THief in the Night is on a seperate disc, so to do the continuity right you would have to pull the first disc out and put the second disc in and then back to the first disc to watch Starscream's ghost which is the last episode on DIsc one so after that you would then need to put back in Disc Two to carry on. A minor annoyance but still rather odd. THe Booklet is fantastic. With the artwork and Bios pulled from the hard to find DreamWaves "More Than Meets The Eye" issues. So that's important. The Extras are fun, although the kids fuzzy faces in the commercials are a little off putting.
All in all if you are a big transformer fan and want to see the interview with Bob Budiansky then this is a must and it's a steal at the amazon sale price.
Now I am going to Roll Out!!!!
Transformers 25th Anniversary: Matrix of Leadership Edition [Generation One]
I am very happy with the product. It brought up a lot of memories. I enjoyed this series as a child. Transformers: 25th Anniversary Matrix Of Leadership Edition [The Complete Series]The box the DVDs came in was excellant and it was fun pulling the box open to get to them out.The package came with an Autobot and Decipticons magnet. The DVD cases had pictures of the autobots and decepticons (Optimus Prime, Megatron, Rodimus Prime, Galvatron, etc...) on them. The DVDs played in the XBOX 360, Playsation 3 and Blu-ray players with no problems.
A Good Release
This is a good set of DVDs, for what it is. The packaging is colorful and attractive, if a little gimmicky, and the DVD cases are sturdy. The content is slightly lacking, however. There are some extras like period commercials and advertisements, which are nice, but my real complaint is with Hasbro's continued insistance on presenting the episodes in their original airing order. This is not the intended release order (chronological order), or the order recognized by the episode numbering. It's frustrating to have to exit to the DVD menu to find the next episode in the series because if you select "play all" it may skip 3 ahead, then go back to the ones missed, making no sense at all. Other than that complaint (which is directed at the owner of the Transformers brand, not Shout! Factory), this is an excellent way to get all of your G1 transformers!

Without a doubtThis is the greatest movie of all time. Everything was executed perfectly, from the music to directing. There's nothing else to say.
Transformers I
This sound track did not have the great instrumental that it had in the movie. A disappointment. Some good songs though, Linkin Park for one.
Not worth your time
The special effects were very good, but the acting was abysmal. The plot, as usual for a teeny bopper movie, was typical of the mindless fare that has been thrown out there or I should say thrown up for the mindless. Too bad, so sad. Oh yeh, and the two teens? I'm sorry, but no one in their mid twenties is ever going to pass as a teenager. That was totally moronic, especially the girl.
The Worst Movie I Have Ever Seen in My Life
Having grown up in the 80s, and being a big fan of the TV Series/Half Hour Toy Line Infomercial that inspired this movie I approached it both with eager excitement and lots of caution, since I consider Michael Bay one of the worst filmmakers in history. I wasn't disappointed: this is the worst film I have ever seen in a film theater during my entire 37 years on this earthly realm. To say that I hated every single frame of this 149 minute debacle with all my heart, soul and body is an enormous understatement: this is the film that killed a Sci-Fi loving metalhead's faith on Hollywood blockbusters forever.
Now, I could write pages upon pages about why I hate this movie so much, but for brevity's sake I'll just settle on my Top Ten Reasons:
1)For a movie that's supposedly about giant transforming robots fighting each other there's a real shortage of moments in which said giant transforming robots fight each other.
2)On the rare moments in which said giant transforming robots do fight each other, it looks like giant piles of scrap metal crashing into each other and it's almost impossible to tell what's happening thanks to the jump editing, shoddy camera work and CGI overload.
3)The giant transforming robots in their robot form look really ugly, soulless and unsympathetic. The design of the original robots from the TV Series/Half Hour Toy Line Infomercial might have been simplified and blocky, but it surely got the job done and didn't manage to make them look like a garish Rube Goldberg nightmare.
4)The Autobot's vehicle forms are all GMC models. Look, I work in Advertising and don't mind product placement in fiction when it's tastefully done, but this is just going too far.
5)This film is obscenely loud. Having listened to heavy metal for more than 25 years now I'm not a slouch when it comes to loudness, but the levels of this movie made me feel physically uncomfortable on the theater.
6)The script is crap. Instead of focusing on the Autobots versus Decepticons struggle, the script has a nerdy boy meets beautiful yet tough girl main plot and a bunch of stupid subplots that go nowhere.
7)Said script features the biggest holes and internal inconsistencies I can remember on any major blockbuster.
8)The comic relief is groan inducing at best and utterly retarded at worst. Seriously, peeing robots?
9)The sexy cryptography expert character is even stupider than the physics student/fashion model character in Spiderman III. No wonder they were played by the same actress.
10)I have no problem with the fact that Megan Fox can't act and her role in this movie is just being a piece of eye candy. What I really can't stand are all those endless cleavage and fully clothed ass shots. If you're going to treat a girl like a piece of sexy meat, at least have the decency to show her naked once in a while and stop teasing so much. The last time a cleavage shot interested me was when I was a teenager, and even back then, films managed to sneak some decent nudity in blockbusters, all this PG-13 naughtiness is not even remotely sexy, just childish and annoying.
So, in closing, if you enjoy this movie, I pity you since this means you're hopelessly stupid, have neither taste nor capacity to enjoy movies or any artistic experience whatsoever and it's possible you were born without a soul, just like Michael Bay.
no humans please
This movie should have been about giant robots. If you want an emotional film then go ahead and explore the emotional lives of the robots, but no, we end up exploring the boring banal lives of some teenage twits.
Total disappointment. There are action films where the plot gets out of the way so we can have fun. There are action films where the plot and the action work together to make a great movie. Then there are movies like this were the plot gets in the way and totally ruins the fun of the action.

Other half of Season 2This set contains the rest of Season 2 of Transformers Generation 1. The episodes that were in Season 2 Vol. 1 were great, and this set containing the rest of the Season 2 episodes won't disappoint if you loved the Vol. 1 set. All of Season 2 we see some new characters come into the series along with some memorable events that go on throughout the entire second season of Transformers. While I may not be a Transformers geek like my bro is, but I can still appreciate what Generation 1 had offered through the first 2 seasons of the show. I give the second half of Season 2 a 4.5 out of 5.
More great Transformers episodes.
The only thing I need to add for this review was in the "Cosmic Rust" episode, Menasor says "damn it" when the aerialbots attack him. I completely forgot about him saying that! Transformers.......nothing like it as far as 80's cartoons go.
Just like the old days!!!
If you grew up with the Autobots and Decepticons you will love this Shout production re-release! I'm surprised how many of these episodes I remember!!
It's a total trip down memory lane and kind of inspiring again.
The seller was great as well, I got my order two days after ordering. I would recommend them!
Really great season especially with the combiners
I love this season because of not only of more history of the transformers like the introduction of Alpha Trion and how Optimus Prime came to be, but also the introduction of the teams of combiners like Stunticons, Aerobots, and Combaticons. I was able to get one or two of these teams but never was able to afford to get all of them, which is why as an adult I got a couple sets of each and gave them to my children. These brings back memories of the good old days and my kids love them too.
oh yeah!!
DOes any fan of the show like myself think that Megatron, Soundwave, Starscream, Rumble voices are like so cool?? Love the comedy between megatron and starscream. Star is always trying to overthrown megatron in some way, any chance he can get and if he -megatron finds out he like so mad..cracks me up! Love the older cartoons better the simpsons, tmnt-original series and tranformers G-1, inspector gadget my faves!!! anyone agree? p.s who does starscream and megatrons voices??? thanks

For kids?I bought it for my the 5 year old nephew, who loved it, but for me it was too difficult to transform. My 16 year old nephew was able to do it, but it wasn't easy for him either. Needless to say it didn't last too long.
Broke
I bought this and the silver one for my son, it broke right away. Transformers makes toys that are more durable but these aren't the ones. Arms and legs popped off, its now in pieces. We have two sandwich bags full of the pieces. Honestly I was the one who broke this one my son couldn't figure out how to open or close it and I tried to but it was very difficult and broke. My husband broke the silver one same situation, first opened it, and tried to transform it and it broke. I advise do some research so u can save your money.
Not that great!
I have tried and tried to get this into car form for my 3yr. old and it just isn't totally possibly. It will not completely take that form...so it really is kind of a bummer of a toy. My son loves it because of the movie and the name but it really does not transform well or easily at all!
Transformers Deluxe Bumblebee figure
I got this toy for my nephew for his birthday, he's a rough and tough kid, and he's still playing with it. I figure that's enough for me
to say its durable! He's enjoyed it a lot.
A little complicated
My son received this toy for his birthday and he does like it, but the only thing is it was a little difficult to "transform". Sometimes the parts didn't stay together very well. He is 10 years old and normally he has not problems figuring out how to put something together, but this one was a bit of a challenge. Also, it was a bit smaller that what we thought it would be. He still plays with it and is having fun with it once he got it to stay together.

Twilight's Taylor Lautner to play action figure Max Steel in film adaptation
FOLLOWING its successes with Hasbro's Transformers and G.I. Joe toy lines, Principal is now planning to put Mattel's Max Steel on the big screen. And it's now been confirmed that Taylor Lautner, who plays native American wolfboy Jacob Dark in Twilight and sequel New Moon, has signed to star in the role.
The screenplay, to be penned by Chad Damiani and JP Lavin, will rake of a 19-year-old extreme sports junkie Josh McGrath. He's an orphan who is recruited by a secret instrumentality after an accident infects his body with microscopic machines called nanoprobes, giving him the powers of superstrength, invisibility and altering his advent.
The toy - along with a tie-in comic book - was introduced in the USA in 1999 and led to an animated series from 2000-2002 as well as a video game (pictured above). Max Grit one's teeth is hugely popular in Latin America, where it is is the region's best-selling action figure.
There is no director on room yet, reports Variety .
Lautner, 17, who has just four films to his credit (both Twilight instalments plus The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D and Cheaper by the Dozen 2), will next be seen in New Crease's star-studded romantic comedy Valentine's Day, due out in February.
