great product for travel
I bought this crate right before our family road trip in California. It is perfect for travel, it is easily foldable and very easy to unfold. Our dog was able to stay in our hotel room without any stress for us. We love the fact that it has a bottom that prevents any accident on carpet or floor.
I would recommend it without any reservation.
Great crates
This is a great crate. My husband and I bought two at the time that we purchased. We still have one of them. My older dog tore up the littler one that we bought within 2 days. She had torn up the bottom sliding part of the crate. Apparently she didn't like the crate. Our younger dog still uses the crate to sleep in at night, and it was a God-send for her. She used to mess in the floor in the night, but now she makes it though the whole night without problems. If you get one of these just make sure it's big enough for your dog, and it's better to start out with it on a puppy, not an older dog.
Close to Perfect
I have recently purchased 4 crates for my new dog. 3 of those are wire crates and all three are from different manufacturers. This LifeStages crate is the one I use in the Blazer to travel. Its coating/paint is thicker and smoother than the other crates. It folds up better for carrying. It has rubber roller "feet" where the other crates do not. It does not have sharp metal burrs or ends on the wires. The plastic handles are sturdier and more comfortable to hold than my other two crates. The doors open and shut without having to adjust them up/down. This crate came with the divider -- the others did not. I wish I had ordered this crate first--I would have chosen the same style for my "house" and "office" crates.
nice crate- good price
Stop looking now. You won't find a nicer crate at a better price anywhere.
Well constructed (though bars seem to be slightly thinner than a much older model by the same maker)
Second door is a plus to fitting this crate into multiple locations.
Perfect big-boy home for the previously crate-trained dog. (a 10 month old aussie)

As for the complaints by earlier reviewers--
Nothing will withstand the wild, destructive "Houdini" who is introduced to the crate when all other options have been exhausted...it's just too late! (avoid problems and crate-train from the beginning when it's easy)
For the noise-sensitive who are bothered by the rattle of the spare door, tie a decorative bow on it- cute and functional.
Another reviewer suggested zip-ties for the top panel to add extra stability- a great idea for those of us who can use the extra storage space!!
Love the crate and its adjustabliity and portability..but needs to be able to do both...
I love this crate and since my dog is still going to grow, I love the option of being able to adjust the size. That being said, once I put the divider in the crate it completely losses its quick portability. Its a pain to put the divider in and out and you cannot collapse the crate without taking the divider out. And , although I love the plastic mat floor for easy cleaning, when our dog is stand or siting in the crate, his toenails click so loud on that plastic floor. We have to put a blanket in there with him and he just loves to chew it up. I wish the crate had a softer insert or a harder rubber top to the platic mat that was comfortable for the dog and stopped the loud click of his nails on the mat! Honestly though, still a great crate!

No problems
I am satisfied with this product. The assembly directions were difficult to reach inside the folded cage, but I managed to retrieve them.
Wonderful for more than Dogs
I bought this crate to use instead of a rabbit hutch. Something of comparable size in the rabbit hutch category would wind up costing up to four times as much as I paid for this. I have a male rabbit who is half Flemish Giant, so when he stands at full height his nose can almost touch the top of the crate. He has enough room to lie down in any direction, full length, no problem. It has room for him to hop around, to stand up, to stretch out. It has room for his bowl, toys, and a corner potty. The original small animal cage I got for him was outgrown in about two months - and was less then half as big as this crate. I use the side door to clean it, rather than sliding out the tray, because leaving him directly on the carpet means cleaning up urine from the carpet later. Since he has plenty of room to hop and walk around I never have to worry about him not having enough space. The crate is as roomy as a playpen. The only thing better for him is letting him run around the room (supervised, of course). And the coated wires mean I don't have to worry about him chewing his way out. The metal tray also does not suffer under his teeth.

The crate is great for a hutch but it's not perfect. The doors are a little smaller than they need to be given the size of the side panels, and a little more room out of the six inches or so of the side that is not part of the door would make getting in and out of the crate easier for me. I doubt people with very large breed dogs feel much different about the size of the doors.
Though it does fold and unfold easily it is a bit heavy and cumbersome to move when it's been set up. The handle alone does not usually provide enough of a hold on the crate to move it, and I always have to put a lot of effort into getting it to move. And that's sliding over carpet with a 6 pound rabbit inside.

Even with the negatives, all in all this crate is a fantastic bargain. I intend to have it for many years to come.
Simply Perfect
For someone that has a hard time putting anything together, this was amazing! It comes very close to assembling itself!
best crate ever.
love this crate. high quality i have had it for over a year and i even bought a second one .
It's Huge!
When I bought this cage, I did it because I wanted something my basset hound would be comfortable in. I had no idea HOW comfortable she would be. This thing is HUGE! Its as tall as my kitchen table and big enough for a grown person to get in on all fours. It is very good construction. (I was worried that like some reviews said it was "cheap")I love this cage and would definitely buy the same one again.

Sophie's pen
We absolutely love this pen for our 17 month old 4lb yorkie. It is perfect! My husband and I have had daily schedules which allowed her to be with one of us most of the day and we had just a small travel kennel that we would put her in whenever we did have to leave her. Well, hubby's schedule has changed and she will have to be alone most of the day now. We needed to find something bigger than the travel kennel cuz she HATES being alone in the big house. She would just shiver and shake and panic to be alone unless she was in the kennel but it's just too small to leave her for six hours. This pet pen is amazing! So simple to set up and take down, like all of 30 seconds either way. It can be moved very easily from room to room or take it outside or to the lake/camping. It's lightweight but yet solid and sturdy. I'm sure if she really wanted to jump/climb out of it she probably could but she loves the security it provides for her. She will actually go into it when she doesn't need to. That never happened with the travel kennel!
Delivery of the product was prompt and billing was handled without a glitch. I am thankful for all the other reviews on this product that helped me choose the perfect solution to our problem. Thank you Amazon.com!
Great Pet Pen
We bought this (the 8-panel size) for our new Havanese puppy. Although I am crate-training her, I wanted her to have a little more room sometimes when I bring her in from outside but still be able to keep an eye on her. Our house is very open in its layout, so baby gates in the kitchen were impossible. I set the pet pen up in the kitchen using 6 of the 8 panels. The puppy has toys and an extra bed in it. She plays and watches me as I prepare meals, and I know she is safe. I've had no problem with her trying to climb up the sides. I agree that it would be nice to have a floor and/or a top to the pen as optional add-ons. I don't need either, but I think options like that would make this an even better item. I haven't tried to use it outside, mainly because the weather has been very hot and humid, but in the fall, I will put it on our deck, patio, or lawn when my husband or I are going to be sitting out there. Great product and well worth the money.
cockapoo happy in Michigan
Love this pet pen. I bought the 8 panel pet pen to use instead of his crate when we have to leave him home alone. Enough room for his two dog beds, food and water dishes, and plenty of toys. He goes in this pen on his own and just lays down and plays with his toys. He never went in his much smaller crate willingly. We would come home to find him soaking wet from his chin down to his front paws from drooling due to stress I guess. My neighbor told me my dog barked from the time my husband left for work until I got home which is an hour and a half. The barking has stopped since using this pen. The pen is tall enough where my dog has never tried to jump out, and sturdy enough to keep my 20 pound dog from tipping it over when he leans on the panels. I have used the interlocking foam flooring as one reviewer suggested since my dog loves to pull up the carpet with his teeth piece by piece when we are not home. It has worked wonders. Excellent way to contain your dog if he has issues being left alone like ours does.
Flexible, versatile indoor/outdoor fence for pets
I love this pen. Easy to configure and flexible. I use it mostly outdoors for my puppies. They can't climb out of this one like they can the smaller ones. As they get older I go from a round configuration to a longer, thinner one where they can run more. I like the way you can push the stakes into the ground to make it stay in place. I also like the way it easily disassembles for storage.

A few of the poles have lost their tips with normal use, but they still work. My only suggestion is that you make extra panels and stakes available for purchase inexpensively so it can be expanded.
Disappointed
Couldn't wait till I received it, set it up and immediately watched my Shih Tzu climb out of it in 4.3 seconds. What a let down.

MidWest crates Solid and Durable
I have two larger MidWest crates with dingle doors that are foldable. They have been in use for 10 years and have proven to be durable, reliable and even portable...easy to put up. I purchased this smaller one as a travel crate for my new dog and it is of the same high quality as the originals. My friend has a different manufactuerer's folding crate the same size and the door doesn't stay latched and came open in the cargo area. The MidWest crate doesn't have the problem. These crates are worth every penny. And easy to set up at home or on the go.
Very nice crate!
I recently had a bad experience with a Drs. Foster and Smith plastic crate ( handle snapped in pieces when transporting my dog home from the vet with a back injury!). I definitely needed a sturdier crate and purchased this Midwest Crate. This crate is better designed and the handles also look much stronger. Not sure I'll trust any handle again, but with this crate, I think it's going to be easier to carry without even using the handles. I haven't yet used this one to transport my dog, but it's sure doing the job in the house. My dog loves it. He goes in on his own to lay down and looks very cozy. It's making it much easier to keep him contained while his back is healing. I think it's a very good product at a reasonable price.
WARNING: Crate Injured My Dog!!
I have a large icrate with a divider panel. I do love this crate, however the hooks and edges are very sharp. Today I took the divider panel out so I could collapse the crate to give to friend who is watching my puppy while I'm out of town. I leaned the panel against the bedroom door and my puppy came up to investigate. As she backed up, a hook went COMPLETELY THROUGH HER EYELID. After a couple seconds of her screaming in pain I managed to get her calm enough to carefully slide the hook back out and rush her to the vet. Fortunately the hook did not injure her eye but she has a bloody gash in her eyelid and it's very swollen. She's going to have to be on antibiotics for the next week. Vet visit cost $120, half of which was for the emergency status of the visit and the other half for the antibiotics. The hooks need to be rounded off or filed down.
Great for fearful dogs with separation anxiety
My dog loved it almost immediately. We rescued a one year old 12 pound mini schnauzer mixed breed who was very timid/fearful and very fond of peeing on the carpet as soon as we left the house (even though she can hold it for 8-10 hours at night with us there). She took to the crate much more quickly than I thought. We followed the instructions found on numerous websites online about introducing her to the crate. I found that placing a blanket over the top sped up the process considerably. She felt right at home in her little cave. The size was perhaps a little larger than she needs (I settled on the 24x18x21), and I think she could have gone with one slightly smaller, but there is room for all her toys in there now and she feels right at home. We have not progressed to leaving her for very long in the crate yet, but so far the peeing has decreased from a twice daily to a once weekly event just with having it in the house for her when we leave. It is turning to out to be a great investment for our very anxious new addition to the family!
Perfect for 10lb Maltese!
I adopted a Maltese 9 months ago. He is about 4 years old. I believe his previous owner attempted to train him to use training pads indoors to "potty". After a month of working with him I was able to get him to pee and poo outside. When it got cold he regressed and I've been dealing with him going in the house all winter. I vowed that once summer came along that if I couldn't retrain him that I would resort to crate training him. I wasn't sure of the size but I opted for this one. I didn't want to spend too much money on something that I only planned to use a few weeks.

AMAZING!

I had done a lot of research on crate training. I knew from the beginning that it is one of the fastest ways to potty train a dog. I'm a little disappointed that I hadn't done it sooner. It has only been 3 days and he is "going" outside without any issues. I've never been so thrilled to see poo in my yard.

Hopefully all of the praise and treats will help him recognize he is doing a good thing outdoors so I can stop using the crate. I do not by any means condone using the crate beyond a couple weeks or for more than 6 hours a day. Even then I really don't like to crate him but I remind myself it is only for a short time.

I would not suggest using this crate for a hyper dog. My Maltese is a lap dog and whether or not he is in a crate, he is very laid back and lazy most of the time. The crate collapses and unfolds for easy storage or transport and I would be a little nervous using it for a dog that will do a lot of romping in it.

Very Happy So Far
I just got this crate delivered and set up. Setting it up took all of 5 minutes. Most of that was getting it out of the box. It would have gone faster if the instructions weren't at the bottom too. This was the easiest crate set up EVER! It appears to be of good construction and I like the metal pan instead of the plastic one. It has a couple of scratches but then as soon as my dog gets in it will have more. Overall it appears to be well made and of good materials. One door on top, one door on the long side and one door on the short side.

The crate is quite large. I have a VERY large GSD who at 8 months is almost 70 lbs., very tall and still growing. She has outgrown the largest Furrari plastic sided crate I could find. I paid almost $200.00 for that one! It is a great crate and my smaller GSD will inherit it now. My girl is a very strong powerful dog and this crate looks like it will be strong enough to keep her confined. Not that she makes a huge fuss, she Loves her den. But she is just so big when she shifts position her old crate would move or shift with her. Hopefully having a larger space will eliminate that all together.

A couple of people were upset at the shipping and handling charges. I noticed that too and was a bit put off by it myself. However, I shopped around a good bit before ordering and found that even with the high shipping charges included it was still the best overall price out there at this time. The closest I could find was still almost $30. higher. I felt this was still a bargain. It shipped VERY fast and arrived 7 days before the date I was given for delivery. So far it has been a great experience. If that changes with use, I will update the review.

Enormous cage for a cheap price!!!!!
My dog is now 6months he is a lab. I found this cage not understanding dimensions all that well because of the price. I couldn't beat it. So what I thought if he has more room than usual.

When I got this cage it was like a dog hotel. 2 6mth old labs could fit in that cage. Good quality and price. I had to put the cage on the Lanai/back porch because it was so big. Luckly my back porch is screened in with a fan. It's hot in Florida so we bring him in during the day and let him go in it at night.

Enormous cage for a cheap price!!!

Brand New Black 49" Triple-Door Suitcase Style Folding Metal Dog Crate with Metal Pan - 49"(l) x 29"(w) x 32"(h)

These guys offered the lowest price for a dog crate ($36), but when you get to the CheckOut they want $50 to ship it to you.
49" pet crate
This crate is wonderful. It has 3 doors, even one on top, which make it easy to clean and to replace food and water. My two dogs, a Siberian Husky and a Border Collie pup sleep together very comfortably. Great product for a great price.
Sturdy Dog Crate
The Kennel/crate tray is much sturdier than other plastic. My puppy has a tendency to eat plastic trays w/in 1 week. This kennel is well worth the cost. The only negative comment is that the box was pretty torn up when it arrived and a corner of the metal tray was slightly bent. Overall, I would purchase again!

Boomer Girl Diary: Maybe a sleeping crate's the answer for insomnia

The brothel seems different at 4:30 a.m.

First, there’s the darkness. It’s amazing how lack of natural light (or the artificial variety, for that matter) will coins a place. The good news is: I can’t see the dust, the coffee table clutter or the shoes on the floor. The bad news is, I voyage over said shoes as I feel my way to the sofa, almost breaking my neck.

Then, there’s the quiet. No TV, no stereo, no traffic noise from the thoroughfare outside — only the moans and creaks of this old house and a cacophony of wind chimes from the front porch.

This kind of stillness — this unused of stimuli — usually unsettles me. Not at 4:30 a.m. At 4:30 a.m., silence is golden. That is, for about 10 minutes. After that, I’m as excitable as a tiny nun at a penguin shoot! (Found that one the Internet; couldn’t resist.)

Insomnia was a whole different ball game before the dog came.

Pre-dog, I would wake up, mark the alarm clock and, after the requisite silent cursing (“$%*&! Not again! Why can’t I sleep through the %#^@$ night like I acclimatized to?”), slip out of bed, pop on the TV and hunker down for an hour or two of QVC.
