Leapfrog Scribble and WriteMy grandchildren, both pre school, love the Scribble and Write. After a period of time using the product they are quickly learning the difference between upper and lower case letters and are attempting to write letters independently. Good to take on journeys to keep them amused. Light and easy to carry around.
Great learning activity
I got this for my stepson shortly after he had a surgery which required him to stay laying down most of the day (at 4 years old - ha!). He absolutely loved it. Initially, he played with it all the time - he loved drawing on the screen. However, the four different settings aren't something he can keep focused on - he usually changes it quite often until the game allows him to do something he wants. I'd recommend getting this with an etch-a-sketch or similar toy as well, as your child may want to draw things that the game doesn't allow. However, it's the ONLY effective tool I've ever found to help him learn (he stays at home). He's writing now more than workbooks and activity books have been able to get him to do. Combine this with the Leap Frog DVD's and a LeapFrog reader, and you'll hit a home run in getting your child to learn letters almost effortlessly.
Excellent toy for an early writer!
My son received this as a gift when he was about 2.5 and it was a bit advanced for him at the time, but it has definitely helped him form letters since he has been playing with it (he turns 3 this month). He knows how to turn it on, put it to the setting he wants (settings are shapes, numbers, lowercase letters, uppercase letters), and selects the letter he wants to draw. The instructions for writing the character or shape are very easy to follow and he is gradually getting better at starting the stylus at the right spot and following the line. After he's made the letter, he can turn off the lighting behind it so he can see only his writing. Then he swipes the button at the bottom to clear the screen and starts over again. As another user pointed out, it does not sense your writing at all as far as being able to tell you whether you've formed it right, but would you really want it to? Now, when I ask him to draw certain letters he seems to favor on paper (ie without the guide of the toy), he can do it. I definitely attribute this growing skill partly to this toy. It is not too loud, musical, or repetitive, and is quite compact, making it a perfect toy for the car.
Not as high tech as it looks, but amazing how quickly kids learn with it!
First off, the downside to this: The screen is nothing more than something I had as a kid that can be bought at the dollar store. It displays writing or shapes with pressure, not anything high tech like other Leap products. Not that it's a bad thing! Just sometimes hard to maintain complex drawings, like a smiley face. Also, the "eraser" is really flimsy. I cringe every time my son rips it across the screen. The pen is attached with a very short cord. I cut it loose after my son's frustration started to make the toy less fun. The pen is chunky so there's not really a chance of losing it.
Now the positives! My son was going to be in the hospital for a few days so I wanted something he could use while stationary. Of course they bandaged up his writing arm, but that's besides the point! He's 3 and a half and learned more with this toy in a matter of weeks than he did in a year in preschool! Basically, the screen at the bottom displays letters, shapes, and games for the kids to trace. It's great for visual and auditory learners because the letter is sounded out phonetically, described how to make it auditorially, and then drawn with the blinking lights.
It's really simple for kids to follow and moves at a decent pace. They can do the same letter over and over then "press the paw button" when they want to do a different shape or letter. I highly recommend it!
Excellent learning tool for preschoolers learning to write their ABC and drawing Shapes.
My 3 1/2 year old daughter loves this toy. It teaches Uppercase & lowercase letters, drawing various shapes, and some commom pictures. Its a great toy for long car rides, its not annoying like other toys, and the most important part is that my child is actually having fun and learning.

Looked cool in the pictureExtremely disatisfied...The trucks themselves were actually pretty good. But dont waste the extra dollars for the stickers and paint. The paint was dried out and we had to throw it out and the stickers dont fit anywhere on any of the trucks like you would imagine, they are way to big. Overall they tried to do something cool that didnt work out.
a craft and a toy
My 5 yr old loved this when he got it. He enjoys painting and coloring and loves cars, so this was the perfect gift.
He had all the trucks painted on the first day.
Stickers don't fit on Trucks!
The creativity fun that I thought I was getting for my son wasn't that at all! The stickers that come with the trucks are too big to fit on the truck body!! The only ones that worked were the stars - all the others were too large to fit in the small spaces on the trucks! The paint is OK - it did not cover as nicely as it could have. My son only painted one - it was not that exciting for him because it is very difficult to actually paint words or any kind of picture. I also had trouble helping. The trucks themselves are fairly durable and unique. I would recommend this only for the trucks - not for the creativity of decorating or personalizing them!!
GOOD CREATIVITY WITH THIS TOY.
Purchased this kit for my grandson's 9th birthday. He had a great time designing a truck with his friend. Great to find an educational toy that also brings out his creativity. Now he has his "own" monster trucks to add to his growing collection. This Amazon toy was delivered with great speed and at a good price.
Big Monster hit!
We gave this to my 4-year-old nephew for christmas, and It was one of his favorite gifts! He wanted to take it out right away to decorate the trucks! It was a great project after the hectic day.. he sat for at least an hour putting the stickers on and painting.. even his 6-year-old brother joined in. It could get a little messy, and needs a good hour of drying time! I think it was great to have a toy that is mainly physical, that becomes creative! Great value for 4 trucks & paint/stickers!

Great upgrade!I had the first generation of this watch but the little grey capsules always fell out. Now the capsules are red and actually stay in.It even comes with secret message paper now. I remember when i had to cut my own! Thanks for the update.
Ultimate spy watch
This item has actually been purchased twice from me as it was placed in water during showertime and the disappointed of not having it was huge. This is NOT a waterproof watch so please remove when near water. The things and the excitement of having the coolest watch is awesome.
watch which are not able to show time
This watch looks like total fun for a boy and he loved to receive it as a Christmas present, but it was difficult to set up the time - the adult help required. Much worst, by evening we were totally frustrated to find that as a watch this item is useless as in a few hours the time it showed was completely incorrect. Few reset up didn't help.
From joy of having cool watch his attitude turned to "my folks gave me total junk".
Don't recommend for somebody over 3 years old.
For boys under 8
Sould not be for child under age 8 I could only give 2 stars since I mistakenly bought for a 13yr old.
Delighted!
My almost five year old boy (who wanted a watch) got this tonight for Channukah, went to bed playing with it, writing notes, loosing all the little pieces and then sleeping with it on his arm. He is delighted.

My 3 year old loves it!Very cute, good picture, light weight and durable. The sound is good too. The kids like it so I like it.
Leap Frog Learning device
This is a very good toy for learning, especially for energetic 4 year olds. I bought this for my grandson and he stays with playing through each of the modes.
Great Toy!
I purchased this toy for my then 3year-old son (after a moderate amount of comparison and deliberation with similar toys) with the simple goal to help him learn the sounds of the letters better. We've been disappointed with toys that pretend to be adult "toys" but that just don't seem to fool him or make him want to play with them for more then a day or two. So I was skeptical and had low expectations of how well it would entertain him. And to be honest, he barely touched it for the first month he owned it (it was a Christmas present though so he was busy playing with new trains, vehicles, building blocks, and such). Then one day, (because of it's size: it fit in my purse) it went on a doctor's visit with us. And that was it.
I took the time to show him what buttons did what and how to bring up different functions (he remembered a couple) and he has loved the toy ever since. He likes to keep it in the car now and he plays with it almost every day when we're all driving home from work/daycare (which can be a pretty cranky time for him so yay!). He'll also play with it in the morning when he wakes up on the weekends if we put it by the bed after he falls asleep and give us a little extra time before we have to get up.
Educationally, I like this toy as much as he likes it for being fun. He is delayed with his language so I like that it helps him with his letter sounds while playing. We sometimes expand on it and make up our own silly combinations... well, we do but he laughs at them and repeats them, which is the important part. As he gets older, he'll be able to contribute too and we'll be able to really make a game of it. I like that as he gets older and understands more, there will be new functions he'll be able to use on this toy (like the game mode) so it will continue to help him learn and be fun for him for a long time. As a parent, I love toys that have a long play life!
So far this toy has been pretty durable. It has been dropped on concrete and had a 35 lb child stand on it several times without any damage. In general I have been happy with the quality of Leapfrog products and this one is no exception. It is a great toy, both for children and parents.
Entertains And Travels Well
I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old now 3, we travel alot and this keeps him still while he gets a haircut as well. Also, going through security at the airport was easy and it is small enough to put into his carryon backpack and loud enough for him to hear and not others who is sitting close on an airplane. There are animated pictures when you press the alphabets in upper case and lower case, 2 games and one button that sings a little song to teach you about the weekdays, good for an hour and if you play with child a few hours without getting bored, but once my 3 year old has mastered this game, he only plays with it from time to time.
A million percent recommend!!!
Im going to thank this toy for teaching my son his ABC's and in a week! He is very hyper activity and hates group activities or activities where hes expected to sit and focus or participate. So its been a struggle teaching him much. I got him this game on a whim and it was a huge hit. He loved the games, when he thought Scout was texting him, all the cute little animated graphics. I really didnt think he would like it because its not big and it doesnt have colorful animations, but he has to have this toy with him for about 90% of the day and its the only toy I dont mind him carrying everywhere with him. He can actually point out every letter of the alphabet now and not just in the game, in everyday situations. If we go out to eat he loves to read the letters on the menu now! Im definitely looking into the other leapfrog toys as well now.

Program needs Toys for Tots
"Donations are down. They're bloody down," said Ruth Holbert, assistant coordinator for the agency.
The organization has about 11,000 children in the 11 counties that turn up tell of up the Western Region on a list to receive toys, but Holbert expects that number to grow to as much as 15,000 by Christmas Day.
Toys for Toys already shipped 2,000 toys to district agencies for distribution, and the warehouse, located in Hendersonville in the Walmart shopping center, is storing enough for another 300 to 500 kids.
"Our popular is greater than it's ever been," Holbert said.
Children are referred to Toys for Tots by school counselors, Social Services departments or the sheriff's offices.
U.S. Maritime Corps Staff Sgt. James F. Holbert Jr. is the coordinator of the campaign. WNC Toys for Tots has served the children of the area for more than 17 years, and last year helped more than 9,000 children.
Ruth said "the crush of the economy" has affected donations. The program asks for $10 toy donations. They are extremely low on toys, for girls and boys, in the 6 months to 2 years age heap and for ages 12 to 13.
