Too bad...
I am pulling my hair out at this point in my search for 'the one.' It does not exist.
Notice: The gray is darker than in the picture.

-It may just be the one I got, but the rabbit ears above the head rest just do not work very well. They stick, the red plastic cover pulls right off. Why did they change it from adjusting in the back with the bar? They try to get all fancy...stick with the basics.

-The padding is not very good around the head on the main pad for 'side impact protection.' The padding is way better on my son's toddler Eddie Bauer Deluxe. Same idea, just not convertible.

-The fabric is thin and cheap.

-The piping around the seat separating the solid from plaid fabrics is hard and uncomfortable.

-The recline mechanism is flimsy with a light weight base.

IMO it is better than the Evenflo Symphony and all three models of the First Years True Fit. The seat is at least a whole piece without awkward holes cut out of it that bother bottoms. And it has the adjustable crotch strap that threads through the slits in the fabric (woohoo!) instead of a mechanism that requires a huge cut-out of the fabric (one of the dumbest ideas ever imo).

+The latch system is not awkward or difficult at all.

+It fits in my Prius on the passenger side leaving the passenger up front with adequate leg room.

overall:
The rabbit ear height adjusters and the cut-cost lack of padding on the upper seat are the biggest things I dislike. There aren't really any other options left except for trying the Complete Air from Safety First. Ug. Seems like every convertible seat out there is poorly thought out.
I actually really like it!
This definitely wasn't my first choice but it was my only option at the time so I bought it and I am pretty happy with it. Forward-facing it works great! My daughter is comfortable, I can recline the seat to best fit her needs, making adjustments to the seat are easy, seat belts rarely tangle...and did I mention my daughter is really comfortable! I always looks at her and wish that my drivers seat was as comfortable looking as her seat...lol. My only complaint is when its rear-facing it sits too straight up. Her head always slumped forward whenever she fell asleep and I always felt bad. But other than that, great seat! I would purchase again for when its time to face my daughter forward. Installation seemed very confusing at first but when you actually take time to read the manual (and this is true really for all car seats)it is really simple to install.
Everything Wrong About This
We got this seat because at the time it was the only one that would fit my infant daughter in her hip brace. And I have never liked it. We bought it in 2008, so they may have improved it since then, but it has nothing going for it. The buckles are extremely hard to get undone (good thing I guess for a toddler - she can't escape), the seat pitches her forward making it uncomfortable for her to sleep in (her head falls forward), the latch straps are tough to remove/insert (I have to put my full body weight into the seat to latch them and even sometimes I struggle with it). I would never buy this again, and after two years and another baby on the way, we've purchased another seat because I am just tired of fighting with it.
Just wanted I expected.
I have been happy with Eddie Bauer products and so wanted to buy this one for a while. I never purchased convertible car seat in the past so I had to do lot of research before buying one.

The previous carseat for infants was getting small for my son, so I decided to buy a bigger car-seat that will last for a long time. I hope this is the last carseat I have to ever buy for my son.

The car-seat fits perfectly in the car without much trouble. I was worried about it and it's effect on the front seat.

My car is Honda Civic 2008 model, It was not a problem at all and I did not pull the front seat too much.

My son likes it and I am happy with the product.

Update:
It's been a month now, there has been not a single instance of belt tangling. Belt tangling was a problem with the infant car-seat that I had from Eddie Bauer.

Buckling the kid is quit easy, It really does not take much effort to buckle up and I can unbuckle the kid with just one hand (with left hand, I am a right handed person)

I have attached a photo with some information for your reference.

Great choice!
We have a 14 month old and we have had the chair for about 2 months now. We had looked at reviews on Amazon and other sites. There was mention of kids heads bobbling around, we have not seen that problem. Another problem that we read about was that the cup holder falls down too easily. First off, the cup holder is not close enough for a 1-2 year old, maybe even a three year old to reach when buckled in so it is sort of a non-issue, however, when you raise the cup holder up, you have to slide the entire cupholder assembly down for it to lock in place. Our 14 month old sits in this chair like it is a kings chair. He loves putting his arms on the arm rests, they are a good height and it makes him look like big kid just lounging in his recliner! We tilt it back slightly so that he is comfortable. The fabric quality seems to be good, anything that kids have wear quickly but this can be helped by taking good care of the seat. All in all, the price was great and the chair is wonderful.
Eddie Bauer Car Seat - PHENOMINAL!!!
HIGHLY recommend buying from Amazon... my 2 & 1/2 year old LOVES it; feels like such a big girl! Plenty of room to grow & converts from 5pt harness to booster. Less expensive from Amazon w/ free shipping then from Babies R Us! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Decent Car Seat, Nothing Special
I Purchased this in a little over a month ago and the seat is satisfactory.
Pros:
This car seat was easy to install. The connectors are easy to find and once the straps are straight easy to connect.

Cons:
The strap you pull to tighten the harness looks like it is already having a lot of wear and its only been a month. Although the connectors for the harness have enough room to work out twists in the harness they are also large enough to easily allow the straps to twist making it so you have to fix them almost every time you strap in your child which is annoying.
Easy to use and adjust!!!
This is a great seat. The ability to quickly change the configuration including straps and recline and make it work with any car/van you have really rocks. I have 3 different seats and this one is the easiest and best by far.
Good seat for toddlers and daily trips
The seat does what it needs to and for the price is appropriate. I don't switch cars with it, and installing it once was a little more cumbersome than the twice as expensive Recaro back-to-front seat we have in the other car. The belts are thinner than the Recaro's, which actually makes it easier to twist any wrongly aligned latches. The tightening strap is difficult to pull snugly, but not frustratingly so.

As others have mentioned, there isn't much head support for naps while driving, so for longer trips where your child may be napping, have something to use for head support so the nap lasts longer than til the first major turn.

The low seat height and fold-able armrests are great for ingress/egress, but for whatever reason, when the seat is empty, they jiggle annoyingly when driving unless you wrap a harness strap around them.

So overall, its a decent seat that my son likes to ride in, but has some little quirks that have easy work-arounds that would probably cost way extra for an enhanced feature on another model booster seat.

Customer Reviews

like it a lot...
Dispite other reviews, I am pleased with this seat. It was a little difficult to get ready for the car, but what baby item isn't. I have no problem with the buckle or straps at all. My son is 10 months and weights over 24lbs so we have it installed facing backwards with the latch system. Despite him being heavy, it doesn't tilt, even on sharp turns, like our old evenflo carseat did. We did put a towel underneat the carseat since our seats are really slanted so it would recline more but we have had to do this with all our car seats. Finally, I love that the seat is wide. My son looks very comfortable in it and falls asleep almost everytime we get in the car!!
Not a great seat, get a Britax
This is not a very well-designed seat. The angle of the back doesn't seem comfortable for our kids, and certainly not for our infant. The pillow, as others have noted, is way too far forward. It pushes their heads forward - just a bizarre design. The straps or ok, but they do tend to get twisted, and the buckle is fairly hard to release, especially with one hand. The Britax Roundabout is not all that much more money than this, and it is so much better in design and safety. I would advise against this seat.
A great convertible car seat
I now have two of these car seats, one for my car and one for the wife's car. Very easy to use, attach to the car and easy straps for the kids. I would recommend this to anyone.
Wosrst car seat on the market - do your research!!!
I bought one of these car seats because quite honestly it looked and measured to be the most compact, hence the "best" seeming fit for my rear-facing car seat needs. I've bought a bunch of other Eddie Bauer accessories and found the quality to be pretty good, so I went with my instinct and made the purchase for $119 at Target. After installing this in the back of my Mazda CX9 (by no means a small vehicle) the car seat would not stay in position and jostled out of alignment time and time again. No matter how hard I tried or how diligent I was with the latch system, the seat would not stay in position...very very dangerous for your baby. Also notable is that the seat is 100% plastic and very cheap feeling. There's an "adjustable" stand that makes it convert from rear to forward facing, but it does a horrible job at keeping this unit in place. Lastly I should note that the child has zero protection in this seat...my little girl is only 9 months and 18 lbs, yet she seemed like a giant in the seat and you could see she was fully exposed. We decided to go with a different unit...evenflow has an awesome new one that rivals a britmax safety wise. Take a look at that one...or any other one, but do yourself a favor and don't buy this...you'll just end up returning it.
Don't Waste Your Money
This is the worst seat to get. The pillow in the back pushes baby's head foward. My daughter looks so uncomfortable in it especailly when she is sleeping. I will be taking it back and getting a Graco!

Awful!
This car seat is horrible. We used the LATCH system with the seat facing the rear. It was so hard for my husband and I to tighten the seat enough. It kept tipping over, even with towels underneath. Also, the head rest is huge!! My son's head is either down or flopped to the side, and he hates it. I wish we could remove it, but it doesn't come off. We received this as a gift before he was born, so we have no way of returing it. I am very disappointed.
In it for long haul
I've been using this car seat for over a year with my son (soon to be 3) and it has held up wonderfully! My family lives 11 hours away so I was concerned about comfort on the long drive and how long the seat would hold up making that trip. It has held up wonderfully! I have on several occasions recommended this seat (often unsolicited). Hides stains and such very well. I also found it very easy to install, even when using the latch system. The size is great too because it isn't overly bulky but has plenty of room for my son, his snack, his sippy, elephant, 2 horses, dinosaur, and blanket.
Of course, there is one downfall. While this says the pad is removable for washing - and the newer model may have gotten it right - my cover does not come out for washing.

Overall, worth every penny & more! Safe, secure, & comfy!
I am satisfied.
I like it but was a little disappointed with the size. Its was smaller than I expected overall its worth the money.
Not so hot to trot
I found this product difficult to install. Would have wanted to know that the latch system is difficult to use and that my the headrest is very difficult to properly adjust for my sons comfort.
Not a good choice, please don't buy!
I received this model, and the sage green and plaid model for my baby shower. I think these car seats are the most dangerous car seats on the market. Today, my 20 month old was able to undo the buckle and jump out of the Eddie Bauer car seat, and stand in the back of my car waving. The straps are extremely hard to fasten and for my child to be able to undo them that easily, really scares me. It is impossible to get this car seat into a car without the built in tether straps that are installed in all new cars. Luckily, I just got a new car and it is equipped with this LATCH system. Otherwise, the seat belt method makes the car seat (this car seat) fly all over the place.

Just because it has Eddie Bauer on it, does not mean its a good product. I'd stick with Britax.

Perfect Carseat!
I did not buy from this seller but I got this same carseat on Amazon and I am EXTREAMLY pleased with it! For being a convertible carseat it's actually light weight when it comes to carrying it from car to car! I back has a nice handle to carry it with and there are place's for the LACH belts to clip on to in the back so that there are no belts hanging around or dragging on the floor. I love how easy it is to adjust as they get bigger. No re-threading, it's practicly one-handed to adjust! Fit's 5pound baby's snug with plenty of room for you toddler as they grow big. Very easy to put in and out of car's rear faceing as well and forward facing. I well tell you though in a small car in order for the carseat to be on the right angle while rear facing the front seat has got to be all the way forward leaving not a lot of room for the person in the front seat. But we love this carseat and it was most deffinantly worth the money! I maybe wish I would of invested in it from birth and not just when we needed a bigger one!
