A classic
This is an excellent compilation. The selections are easy to read and kid friendly. A child can easily be inspired to write or read poetry. Also, it's great to see children of color in the illustrations.
The perfect book
This is a beautiful book. I bought this book recently as a gift for my seven-month-old daughter - although she's a little young for it now, I wanted a book with good poetry that she could keep forever. I don't normally buy many books online that I haven't seen before, but after reading the reviews and the list of poets, decided to get it. I'm so glad I did! The poetry and illustrations are beautiful. There are longer poems, like "Daffodils" by William Wordsworth and "The Day is Done" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and a lot of shorter poems or poem fragments by many poets, including Christina Rossetti, Emily Dickinson, Kate Greenaway, William Blake, Robert Louis Stevenson, John Greenleaf Whittier and Lewis Carroll. The illustrations are more beautiful than I imagined - subtly colorful and intricate. There also are some nursery rhymes with smaller black-and-white sketches - plenty to look at and perfect for the short attention of a little one. I'm so happy with this purchase I plan to buy more books illustrated by Gyo Fujikawa. They are just gorgeous.

This is such a great collection of poetry! The poetry of variety of accomplished poets is accompanied by sweet and beautiful illustrations. My kids love this book.
Wonderful!
I had been wanting to find a good book of poems for my 3 year old. We had tried some from the library and she didn't really like them. I found this version and I remembered Gyo Fujikawa's illustrations from when I was a child. We bought this book for a Christmas present. She LOVES it! She loves the pictures and has already memorized a poem! She would have me reading poems out of this book all day if she could! Such a great intro to poetry!

Mickey Original BestThis DVD is definately the best! I had always wanted Disney's Vinatge. And in case any of those reading these reviews, these movies or clips of Disney are some of the originals from the 1930's. That's part of the reason it is vintage. I am sorry that people cannot appreciate the Artistry and imagination of this DVD without the fancy probes and lasers etc of today. This is truly a great DVD!

REVIEWED BY JOHN GREENYAA voyage to France for 25 dollars? No, it's not a super-discount on Air France, it's a book, another Peter Mayle flight of ornate to his beloved adopted country. And while it may not be first class from a literary standpoint, it's a smooth ride you'll enjoy from beginning to end, markedly if you're into flights of fantasy. An ex-pat Brit, Mr. Mayle, who turned 70 in June, hit it big back in 1989 with the enormously successful and very enjoyable "A Year in Provence." But it was barely his first book. While still an advertising executive, he'd begun writing books, specializing in books for children that were not, in the traditional sense, children's books. As a sampling of the titles indicates — "Where Did I Run across From?," "Will I Go to Heaven?," "Will I Like It?: Your First Sexual Experience," "As Dead as a Dodo," and "Grown-ups and Other Problems: Aid for Small People in a Big World" — he was trying to help young people cope with very real problems.
