very limited use for the price
Bought the seat with a tray when my grand daughter was 3 months old. She is happy in it for short periods of time and it was nice to take her outside so I could do yardwork. She is now 6 months old and is able to get one foot on the ground and tip it. Yesterday I ordered the space saver hight chair which is a lot more stable, more versatile, and has straps. It wasn't much more than the bumbo with tray. Wish I bought it instead. Don"t see how a child could use the bumbo beyond 6 months

Be careful!
We left our 5 month old unattended in the Bumbo for just a minute and she managed to wiggle out of it. Luckily, we had it on the carpeted floor. Please be careful with where you put it and do not leave your child unattended, even if they seem really secure! Other than having to watch her every second, it is a great seat for babies who get tired of lying on their backs.

Lifesaver for a short time
Yes this is a lifesaver, but at the same time, it is a big waste of money. We luckily bought ours used so it isn't a big loss for us, but I would say hold off. It is really only good for your baby when they aren't quite big enough to sit on their own and when they are strong enough to hold their head up on their own. My daughter really only used it about a month. It's very akward and she always seemed uncomfortable in it. She spits up a lot in it becaue the middle part of the seat pushes into her stomach when she leans forward at all. It she drops a toy if front of her she leans forward to try and get it. I think when you are at a certain stage of motherhood you are looking for anything that can hold your baby for a minute while you go to the bathroom or wash the dishes or whatever. Get something more like a papasan. We have used that since birth and she still likes it. It has good support and you can strap them into it. Really, this thing doesn't help your baby learn to sit. It only let's you set them down without them falling over. I wouldn't invest in this.

life saver
This seat is a life saver! I don't know how I did without it when I had my first child. I started putting him in it around 4 months when he was frustrated with tummy time, but still wanted to play. My son is almost six months old and loves it. You can tell he feels like a big boy, and he will stay in it for up to an hour sometimes just watching everyone. It is expecially helpful when going places, especially restaraunts. It keeps from lugging the carseat in, which he will insist on getting out of and he is still unable to sit in a high chair. I just plop him in it at a booth and he allows us to enjoy a dinner out without rushing and taking turns holding him so the other can eat.
This seat is the one item a mother must have.

Greatest New Invention for Babies
My family members have used the Bumbo Seat for the last couple years with their babies, so I've been able to see how much babies love them. As soon as my baby was born I ordered one - it's a must have. Babies can sit up straight and feel like they're a part of the activities of the home as they watch from their seat. My baby boy started sitting in his Bumbo at 3 months, as soon as he could hold his head up on his own. He loves his Bumbo!
