Fun and educational
My 7 year old daughter loves this game. It has helped her develop her strategy/problem solving and math skills. She played it everyday the first week she had it. She is buying it for a friend for her 8th birthday. Would highly recommend this game to any American Girl fan.

fun but advanced
I got this game for my 8 year old daughter. She likes it alot, and has alot of fun with it. It's pretty advanced, so I would recommend that an adult help out at least the first couple times playing it... unless it was for a child 10 or older, then they could probably handle it themselves right off the bat. Overall a fun game!

disappointingly inconsistent
Inconsistent because a lot of the information is so basic, it seems appropriate for a young girl - like brushing your teeth. However, it quickly jumps to older material about eating disorders and tampon insertion. I felt much of it was too simplistic for my 10 year old but then some of it was beyond what she needed or was ready for. The information about menstruation was limited but the two-page graphic spread on tampon insertion was unnecessary and potentially frightening. Not a bad book at all, but if I had only one book to give to my child, it would not be this one. I bought my copy for a quarter from a used book sale. Borrowing this book from the library would be a good option, in my opinion.

I much prefer Growing Up: It's a Girl Thing by Mavis Jukes. I think the presentation of information makes more sense from a girl's changing body to a bit of fairly oblique discussion of sexual reproduction. I also like that instead of delving into an issue like eating disorders (which the Am Girl book does) Growing Up has a chapter on body integrity and trusting your feelings and instincts as a way to protect yourself from sexual abuse (though they never use that term).

Perfect for the first mother-daughter "body talk"
This book is wonderful because it covers so many topics. Because boobs and menstruation are a part of the book along with the skin, hair, and nails advice, it seemed to make it not so much of a BIG DEAL for my daughter. We began reading the book together one night, then while I was at work the next day she read ahead. She met me at the door that night with some questions about the section on periods. So we had some quiet time together while I tied my personal experiences to the advice and information in the book, and she is now apparently comfortable with what's going to happen to her body someday. The book provides such a comfortable bridge and conversation-starter. Can't say enough good things about it. Love it.

Not quite what I was expecting, but pleased none the less. I like the size -easy to hold, with larger print and pictures. I like the questions/answer style on certain topics. I now want to get the book on feelings.

Just right for young girls!
I recently gave this book to my 8 year old daughter since we both noticed some developmental changes in her body. I wanted her to know what was happening to her and why, and was concerned that I would not hit the right level of information if I talked to her on my own. She loved reading the book from cover to cover, and it was amazing how willing she was to talk to me about what she read. I loved that as soon as she finished the book she announced we need to eat more leafy greens and she's taken the responsibility of adding more vegetables and nuts to her diet, wants to bathe more regularly, wash her face every night, etc. I wish this book was available when I was going through puberty, since my mom didn't know how to talk to me about anything! I also appreciate that there was no discussion about sex or boys, and the more uncomfortable topics like eating disorders and menstrual cycles were not given any more importance than smelly armpits and pimples. I've never been disappointed by an American Girl book - they've earned my trust.

almost as good as American Girl
This set was great for American Girl Dolls and was my 9 year old daughter's favorite set of pjs (she liked them better than the American Girl Doll sets) BUT the slippers will not stay on unless you buy some elastic and sew a band around the back. AG slippers come with the elastic band. It was a simple fix and it was still much cheaper than buying brand name. I just wish I had known ahead of time so I could have added the elastic before wrapping it as a gift!

Cloud Nine PJ's
For the price of the pajamas, I was disappointed in the quality of the fabric. It was a very thin cotton and certainly not of the quality one would expect from clothing for an American Girl doll.

good fit for Addy American Girl
I'm going sew in an elastic sling back for the slippers so they stay on better; but, otherwise, it's an adorable outfit. Do note, depending on the amount of handling, the glitter will 'shed'.

Great for emotional little girls
My daughter is a very emotional person and I felt that sometimes she needed some advice for someone (or something in this case) that would not judge her or tell her to feel differently. I, of course, try to be that person, but obviously it can be difficult to listen to the person you are upset or angry with. She has really enjoyed having the book and I'm glad that she has a resource when she does not feel comfortable talking to a person in her life.

A good book for parents too.
Being a dad, this book makes it easy to approach some subjects that are awkward for girls to hear from a dad. Read it as a parent. It's approach will simplify some subjects that dumbfound you. I tend to complicate what I say, when my child doesn't want or need to hear all of my words.
Plus, American girl books are designed to let a girl read on her own and be alone with her thoughts, so I just get in the way of that process. Some of this book is for younger girls but your older young ladies will pick out what they want to find out from the varied content.

American Girl books are all well thought out, well written, and well presented. Most important, my daughter loves them all and reads the books cover to cover. In many cases, she reads them over and over.

Practical and real advice presented in a way that a young lady wants to read and absorb.

What more could you ask for? Worth every penny.

Fun game for girls, Whoonu is much better
This is a cute "get-to-know-you" game that is a lot of fun for a group of up to four girls. With the game being geared to girls, my two daughters (ages 7 & 12) had fun playing with various friends and family. It's disappointing that you are limited to four players though and the "diaries" that hold the tiny cards and keep score are rather awkard and slow the overall game down. Whoonu by Cranium is a much better game with a similar premise that allows for up to 6 players and faster rounds. Also, more gender friendly for the dads and brothers to join in the fun.

questions I would not think of!
As a parent, I enjoy this game bacause it forces me to ask questions to my daughter that I would not think of. I learn new things about her and she learns new things about me. My daughter and her friends play this game a lot.

At last, a quality board game.
What a fun game that makes you think at the same time. A gift to my 7 yr. old granddaughter, she and her mom and I (grandma) played it twice while she was visiting me. The categories of game cards and the wishes on the game cards are thought provoking, humorous and require some imagination on the part of the players...a great educational game for young girls without being too slow paced, boring or complicated. My only disappointment was that it takes a minimum of three people to play the game rather than two.

Poor instructions
The first time you play you wont understand it. the instructions are very poorly written. I had to go on the internet to find out the instructions. they should make instructions that you can understand. They also should make a smaller group of cards.
