The Only Baby Product I Feel Sentimental OverMy 16 mo old loves being in the Ergo and I love having him close by. The Ergo is engineered in such a way that you do not feel like you're carrying 25lbs. It's a great product and easy to put on. I love the front zippered pocket. I can stuff so many things in it that I don't need to carry a diaper bag.
I think with babywearing, the key is to start right away. My son only wants to be in the Ergo, he doesn't want to sit in a grocery cart or walk in a store. This can be good and kind of annoying, but at least I don't have to chase around a toddler while I'm trying to shop.
I love how when he's feeling shy he can bury his head into my chest and when he's feeling playful, he can touch my face. He also likes to chew on the hood straps, which keeps him occupied.
You can discretely breastfeed in it, but I found that more trouble than it was worth.
So far, not so great
I am still hopeful this will work well for my growing baby, but so far neither he nor I like it. My baby is 3 months old and he seems uncomfortable straddling my tummy. It also puts a lot of strain on my lower back where the strap rests. For now I am using by Baby Bjorn, and will try the Ergo when baby is older.
The Best Baby Carrier
My daughter and I love the Ergo Baby Carrier. We tried a sling and the moby wrap and both of those options are fine (and are more affordable), but the Ergo Baby Carrier is worth every cent. It's comfortable on the carrier's body, easy to put on, easy to adjust and is compact when not in use. Oh, and easy to toss into the washing machine and dryer! I always make sure we have our Ergo Baby Carrier with us wherever we go, because our daughter takes the best naps when she's carried in it. :)
I also highly recommend purchasing the ERGObaby Sucking Pads becuase they will come in handy!
Ergo vs. Beco vs. Bjorn...clearly Ergo wins!
I owned both Bjorn carrier active and Ergo and tried on a Beco. When my baby was young (newborn to 6 mo), I used Bjorn. It worked great and I loved how you can face baby forward.... until my baby got heavier, the straps started to hurt my shoulders. Maybe I have the Bjorn active, my back didn't really hurt like other people said. So, I was looking for an alternative and found Ergo and Beco. Went to a local store to try both on. Ergo's shoulder and waist paddings are much thicker (therefore much more comfortable), the hood is bigger to accommodate larger baby and it's always attached to the carrier for easy access. I use the hood all the time to provide shades under the sun and head support while my baby is napping. Also, Ergo has a front pocket that I don't need to bring my purse along anymore. Beco has a removable infant insert inside with two plastic buckles attached. Once the insert is removed, there are still these two plastic buckles inside the carrier. I can't imagine how comfy those can be for baby sitting inside. I definitely love my Ergo.
great!
My son and I both love this! He doesn't like to ride in a stroller so I would end up holding him on my hip and pushing the stroller with my free hand. The Ergo carrier has saved my aching arms!

Now that baby is big enough for it I just love it!!The baby bjorn I had, even with "lumbar support", killed my shoulders after my baby was about 12 lbs. I bought an ergo but he did not fit in it at the supposedly-ready 5 month mark -- his little legs were splayed too far apart. But now he's taller at 6 months and he fits great and I LOVE my Ergo!! Great carrier, very comfortable. I also owned a babyhawk for about 3 days and while I adored the cute pattern on that, I didn't feel it was as safe with the buckles (Ergo tests the buckles to high standards, they just feel more "solid", and also the Ergo has reinforcement elastic bands just in case a buckle does ever fail it should "catch" on the elastic.)
Great product...My son loves it
This carrier is pricey but it was well worth it. In fact I got the ERGO items cheaper here at Amazon.com than in the local stores. I had another carrier and my neck and shoulders would get sore within 15 minutes.
I've been using this ERGO carrier for about a months now. The ERGO carrier is so comfortable and I carry my son in it for hours. He loves the carrier also...When he is in the carrier, he eventually falls asleep. I also bought the infant insert, the sucking pads and the pouch. The insert is good if your baby is on the smaller side as it helps boost them up, the sucking pads are great so you don't get the straps all dirty. I haven't used the pouch yet but I figure it would come in handy when we go on trips so I don't have to carry around my purse.
I would definitely recommend this product
good carrier
I bought this carrier before leaving on a trip to San Francisco. It was great for carrying my 14 month old all around the city. It's pretty comfortable but it did strain my back after a while, although my son is pretty big (26lb) so maybe it would be more comfortable with a smaller child. the pocket is great, it fits a couple diapers, a small container of wipes, and more.
Finally, the Holy Grail of baby carriers
Let me start by saying it took until baby two to finally buy this carrier even though we had been storing it in our amazon wish list since baby one was about 6 months old. We have one sling, one wrap, two carriers (including a hiking one and a front or back facing one) and have always been a bit underwhelmed with the carriers until this one! The other carriers thus far have been a little uncomfortable for wearer and baby, as well as complicated to put on/take off. We just got this last night and I put my 2 year old (30 lbs) in it like a back pack. She and I both loved it and let me say this is a fussy Dad and a fussy 2 year old so I assure you one of us would have had a problem with it pretty quickly if there was one to have. So far no regrets and I only wish we would have saved our money and bought this a year or two ago.
We bought it for our 6 month old and will test it out with her today so hopefully this isn't jumping the gun, however judging from how it felt with a 30 pounder on my back I'm assuming it will be pure ecstasy with a 14 lb baby.
Save yourself the time and money and just buy this one now.

Best Baby Carrier So FarI love this baby carrier! When I had my son I was gifted a Chicco baby carrier. I hated it as it was very hard on my back, even with a newborn. I have had back problems all my life and I knew that it would only cause more back problems as my son got older so I went and "splurged" on the Ergo. I am so glad I did, I have not had one aching back after use since I've purchased it. My husband and I took our son to India and Italy in May and used only the Ergo since we nixed taking the stroller along. My son (4 months old at the time) was so happy to be so close to us and neither my husband nor I had problems carrying him in the Ergo the whole trip. It was so easy to use the local train systems and buses and not have to hassle with a stroller. I read some other reviews on how the Ergo's draw back is that babies can't really be in a forward facing position, however, I found that putting the baby in the hip carrier position solves this problem. Anytime my baby gets fussy I switch him in the hip carry position and he can see the world and me. I also like using the Ergo at home to do chores as it keeps my baby happy and I'm still able to get stuff done. I highly recommend this to any parent with back problems and even those without.
best carrier!
I've tried a few carriers, and the reason I like this one is because it doesn't hurt my back as bad to hold the baby in this carrier compared to others. I love the sun shade you can pull out(it comes in handy when baby falls asleep). If I had to say something bad, it would be that the heavy material is not very breathable and it is HOT! Especially since the baby is cuddled up right against you! It is also pretty easy to get the baby into the carrier! I highly recommend this even though it is a little bit expensive.
Love, Love, Love It!
We bought a sling carrier because I thought they were so cute, but my baby HATED being in it so we had to look for another carrier. I went to a birthday party and 3 moms were wearing the ERGO baby carrier. I asked them about it and they all had only great things to say.
*3 ways to wear it- in front, back, or even on the side. I've only used front and back. I can easily put the baby in the front, but have a tough time putting him on my back without help. I think when he's older and he can grab onto me I'll be able to do it myself. Youtube has lots of videos if you want more info.
*Zippered pocket- Easy to keep things handy (fits my wallet, keys, and cell phone)
*Comfortable- It's like a baby backpack with great padded straps. Baby's weight is distributed perfectly so no back aches!
*Nap time- Baby falls asleep easily in the carrier and sometimes I'll wear it around the house when he gets cranky. The flap that snaps and covers his head is great so I don't have to worry that his head will roll around.
One thing I would recommend getting are the Ergo Sucking Pads. Baby sure does like to suck on the shoulder straps by his mouth. Ergo Baby Sucking Pads for Ergo Carrier - Cream
I highly recommend the carrier for moms with big babies (like mine). It'll save your arms and back!
comfortable carrier
The Ergo is very soft and comfortable. I LOVE that it has a pocket, which is really the main reason I purchased it. When I go grocery shopping, it is really easy to put the baby in the carrier and my wallet in the pocket.
The one drawback for me is the length. I'm short (5'2") and I find the Ergo is long on me. I might not have noticed it had I not previously used a Beco. The Beco seems to fit me better but since it doesn't have a pocket, it isn't that useful for errands.
Will work great after the 4th month...
I love our organic Ergo and can't wait to use it for our newborn when she's a bit bigger. I found the Heart to Heart insert to be a bit unwieldy and honestly, I always worry about baby becoming overheated while in the insert and carrier. We used this wonderfully for her first two weeks, but now (at 10 weeks) she and I become so uncomfortably hot that I had to resort to Craigslist to get a Baby Bjorn Air. I know that the insert is to be used until she's just 4 months, but with a newborn, that's like a lifetime, so I'd say go with a Bjorn to start and then the Ergo if you can afford it. Baby is much happier, and mom is a lot cooler, literally. I know the longevity of the Ergo outweighs the Bjorn, but in the short term, I wouldn't recommend it for a newborn.

Versatile carrierI was looking for a carrier for my 1 year old-this was perfect! It's designed to hold more weight than most baby carriers out there and it does the job well-it's very comfortable. I love the front pockets and the sleeping hood. It's a little tough to get on, compared to a sling at least but it's not too bad. I manage to get my daughter in and buckle it on my own. It's great to keep on hand for when you don't have a stroller and don't feel like carrying a heavy toddler around.
Awesome! Highly recommend!!!
My son is 7 months old now (17 pounds)... and my Bjorn is just too hard on my back... my sister recommended the Ergo... and I'm SO glad I got this one! First of all, love the blue and green and the embroidery! But what I love the most is how much easier it is to carry him around everywhere!!! And I can nurse him whenever I want with the little sleep hood. I LOVE this product and highly recommend it!!!
Hands-Down the Most Comfortable Way to Carry Baby!
When baby was first born, we used slings and a vintage Snugli to tote her around. Those were okay, but as baby got heavier and more mobile -- around five months -- I realized I needed something better. I'm a stay-at-home mom, and before baby was old enough to sit up and play with some toys on the floor, I needed to be able to carry her on my back while I cooked dinner, or on my front while walking around town doing errands.
I might not have purchased the Ergo simply for the expense (we try to be very frugal) if a friend hadn't loaned me hers to try out. After two days of using the Ergo, I was hooked. Baby didn't cry the way she sometimes did in the Snugli (not to put it down, though -- that may have been user-error), and it was so much easier on my back; I didn't get the shoulder-blade pain like I used to with other carriers.
I went out and bought one for myself, and did so immediately, largely because I was about to take a cross-country flight with baby, alone; the Ergo proved indispensable then, as it has since!
Baby is now nine months old, and around twenty pounds, and I still experience no back strain when carrying her around in the Ergo. I use it so much, that I've started to carry my wallet in the front pouch!
