Amazing Baby Carrier
I bought the Beco Butterfly II when my son was 4 months old. I was using the Bjorn, but I was having back problems and arm numbness when I wore him. I was looking for something with more back support. After much research, I chose the Beco. Not only is it stylish, but I can wear my baby for hours without any discomfort. The only downside is that I can't wear him facing out (which is debatable, anyway). I thought that he wouldn't like to face in after facing outward in the Bjorn for several weeks, but he's had no problem adjusting. I would highly recommend this product.
Never leave home without it!
I absolutely love this carrier! I wish I'd had it when my daughter was a newborn. I have the Scooters print, and it's probably one of the cutest baby carriers out there. More important that that, though, is that it is so comfortable for both me and my daughter (and my husband, who loves it too. Technically, it's his carrier, but I "borrow" it all the time). We use it instead of a stroller, and actually gave our stroller away after getting this. With baby on your back or front, you can go tons of places you'd never be able to with a stroller. Crowded shopping malls, Disneyland, beaches, buses, airports, you name it. We've tried it, and the Beco made it so easy.

It took us a few weeks to get used to the internal harness panel (not to be confused with the infant insert, which is what allows you to wear a smaller baby in an ergonomically correct position) because we'd learned to use an older Beco that didn't have it. However, once you get used to it, the internal harness gives you more options. You can either put the carrier on, and then put baby in, or you can put baby in the carrier and then put them both on. We also really love being able to transfer our daughter from one parent to the other without taking her out of the carrier, which is only possible because of the internal harness. For the reviewer who complained that swinging baby on your back while already in the carrier is not secure, you can put baby in the carrier on your front, and then slide him or her to your back. You don't have to swing baby in the carrier onto your back.

I prefer the Beco to the Ergo because the back is higher. My daughter likes to lean back when she's on my back, and the high back of the Beco keeps her from being able to lean very far, so our center of gravity stays close to my body. With a lower back (the back of the Ergo comes well below her shoulders at 8 months), she can lean very far back, which pulls our center of gravity much farther away from my body, making it much harder for me to keep my balance without leaning forward or hunching.

This product is one of the few baby items that I could not get along without. We have two so we can keep one in the car, and one in the house. I don't have to worry about lugging around a heavy infant carseat, germs in the shopping cart, keeping my daughter from pulling things off the shelves, how to get my chores done with a teething baby, etc. This truly improved my quality of life tremendously.
Disappointing - Our son hates being in it
We bought this before he was born and I thought it would be one of my favorite purchases and a constant companion. Nope. The upshot is that he is just not happy in this carrier.
I kept thinking that he would reach an age/size where he liked it, but 5 months in that has not happened. When he was very small it would sometimes put him to sleep (kind of like a tight swaddle) but really only if he was tired to begin with. Many times I have had the frustrating experience of putting a happy baby into the beco and setting out for a walk only to have a screaming arching baby strapped to my chest - who then calmed as soon as he was taken out of the beco.
Basically I think the carrier is just too confining. He starts to try to turn around or arch out of it and when he realizes he can't he really starts struggling and then it's just over. Yes, I have tried waiting him out to see if the carrier and position against my chest would calm him. If you want a serious test of nerves this is a good one, just try to have some chamomile tea/valium around for afterward.
On the up side, it seems well made and other kids might like it (thus the two stars), but please try to "test drive" with your child before buying it. Ours is probably headed to Goodwill, and we have had much better luck with the Moby.
worth the money
After watching the instruction video made putting my daughter into the carrier very easy. My daughter (8 weeks old) hated the carrier the first time I put her in it but I think it was because I did not adjust the straps correctly, now she loves it and she falls asleep in it every time. Great purchase, would order it again in a heartbeat!
Great baby carrier!
This is the carrier I've been searching for, literaly for years! I've gone through a few different ones with both my kids, but this is by far my favorite. Easy to use, baby loves it, and it allows me to have both hands free without any worries about my baby's security. I also love that this will grow with my child so I will be able to use it for years to come.

Very nice carrier, but I prefer the Ergo....
This is a very nice carrier. The fabric (Carnival) is absolutely gorgeous, and the item is very well made. The "internal harness" is an added bonus, and it is supposed to make back carries easier. The product also comes with a DVD so you can learn how to use it properly.

However, it just didn't fit me well at all. By the time I got all of the straps adjusted, I was left with 16-18 inches of excess strap that hung down and annoyed me. It also seemed too large in the shoulder area for me. I adjusted it multiple times, and just couldn't get a comfortable fit. I'm an average sized woman (5'5" and a size 10), so I can only imagine that this problem would be compounded for a skinnier person that myself.

I ended up getting an Ergo carrier. It's not nearly as pretty as this Beco, and it lacks an internal harness...but it fits my body much better.

Great Carrier
This is a wonderful carrier! My daughter and I love it! I have been using it everyday since I got it. Makes trips to the store and mall so much easier. She is comfortable in it, and I am comfortable carrying her. We do get a little sweaty but It is really hot in the summer so that is expected. Easy to put on and take off. My daughter is only 5 months and I am looking forward to using this carrier for along time. We have a Moby also but she is already to big it seems for it, I was constantly having to re-tie it. Wish I would of got this carrier to start with! My daugher is 20 lbs and this doesn't hurt my back or anything at all!

MUCH better than Bjorn for larger babies!
My son was 15 pounds at 4 months and carrying him in the Bjorn was a virtual impossibility. After five minutes of wearing it, my back and shoulders were killing me. I researched Beco and Ergo and decided on the Beco Aiden. I could not have made a better choice! My son's weight (now 20 pounds) is distributed between my shoulders and waist and I can carry him for extended periods of time without pain. I LOVE this carrier; it's well worth the cost!
Best way to carry your baby!
My son can spend hours in the Beco. It is soft and hugs his body beautifully. He is super happy to rest his head on my chest and be worn. Also, in response to another reviewer, there is nothing to beware of. The Beco Butterfly II is not supposed to be worn with baby facing out. It's not even good for a baby's back to face forward and it is overstimulating for long periods of time. A great baby carrier. Easy on the back and will make you baby happy!
Comfortable; a little difficult to figure out at first
I bought this for my infant daughter after struggling with trying to figure out how to use a Moby. My hubby and I like it pretty well. It took me a while to figure it out, but after a few tries, it is easy. We plan on using it more when she is bigger.
Very comfortable!
I'm using my Beco carrier since the day that it arrived (2 weeks ago), so far it is comfortable for my 6 months old baby and for me, he likes to see what is going on around when I'm carrying him on the front, I didn't try yet carry him on the back but sure that I'll do soon. I use it when I'm going to shopping and when I walk around my neighborhood and I don't feel any pain on the back. After see the instructions that come in the Cd I figure how to use it; I recommend that you watch the videos before to use it.
I love the Tyler print, the colors are like as you see in the picture!
Great product - little complicated - holds 25 lb baby ok!
I really have enjoyed using this carrier thus far. It's a little complicated to get on and move your child to your back, which is specifically what I bought it for. I like the shoulder straps in that they seem less cumbersome than the Ergo Baby I had tried. With a 25 lb baby on my back, he seems like he enjoyes it ok, it just come up very far on his back. Getting on and off has it's challenges, but it may just take me more time to get used. I am surised at the cost of $139.00 and not sure I got all the value I would like from it, but would recommend it to others that are looking for a soft carrier to carry a larger toddler on their back (without a frame). Good luck - I hope you like it!

Kelly had the Beco in the commons the other day. She and I had Josiah on it. He is the overweight child is referring to the publication. I loved the company. He was true to the sport in front and back. The level stayed in it, which is always a Herculean feeling. Josiah weighs 22 pounds. It is sometimes acute for extended reach into deep sand b / c that such authority is in a joint way. This company distributes its power evenly and I was sober he was more than an hour. This is a serious company.
