boring
I'm sorry, these patterns could be easily found on many knitting websites. The pictures are cute, but I didn't need to spend the money on these
patterns.
Fantastic patterns!
I love this book. I'd consider myself an intermediate knitter. I find the instructions easy to follow and the selection of patterns charming. Nicely laid out book. I've completed the Stella Pixie hat, which was very fun to knit. I'm working through the Bobby Kimono now. I have about three more items from this book I plan on making. I can see the Stella Pixie hat becoming a staple baby gift! Love it!
Low quality instructions
I received a copy of Vintage Baby Knits for Christmas, and immediately started making the Betty Lou Lace Cardigan on page 48 as a gift. I can't believe the glowing reviews for this book, and can only think that most the reviewers haven't actually tried to knit anything from it yet.

I was extremely disappointed that the pattern contained MAJOR errors in the very first row. There is no way this cardigan could have been knit from this pattern, as the increases to this symmetrical garment are shown as happening only at the beginning of the row.

As a very experienced knitter, I believe I know how to fix it, but even had the increases been placed correctly, the resulting quality of the pattern would have been very low. For a garment with 8 stitch markers, there should have been more of an attempt to explain where the increases should be relative to the stitch markers after completing the row.

Needless to say, my confidence in the quality of this book is gone. I'm terribly disappointed by this disaster of a pattern. After checking the publisher's errata web page online, I'm even more disappointed. It doesn't show a correction for the pattern I tried, but for 3 others that I haven't even looked at yet!
Fun and easy baby knits!
I found this book very charming-- instructions are simple to follow. Photographs are true to finished projects. I have made three swaeters and the toddler dress so far, I will probably knit every pattern in the book (except the soakers-- other reviews have that one right). The patterns will be simple for a knitter with experience, I would not recommend this for your first foray into baby knitting. Overall great book!
THE BEST!!!
I love this book. The designs are fresh yet classic. As a knitter with over 40 years of knitting experience, I found this book to be quite possibly my all-time favorite for babies. The patterns hold my interest - they have enough complexity that I don't get bored. They're challenging, but not to the point of causing me to break out in a knitting fever. It's a book I'll use again and again, which is more than I can say for most knitting books.

La Melle Prince, the Songwritre...
Not only was the late La Melle Prince (Decca Recording Artist 1969) a songstress and an international performer, she was also a songwritre as well, of which, her writing skills are portrayed here on (track #7) "Get High." Overall, this CD compilation is a jewel to have in your collection, especially if you love 1940's style jump blues music; as well as, big band jazz & blues and country music too...

Prince would always say, that her lucky number was always #7 and yet we see another unusual example of this...I guess 'on the record' she was right, once more... (La Melle Prince, born January 7, 1927 Kennett, Missouri - presumed death 1991 Los Angeles, California).

*In retrospect, you can also find one of Prince's rare and most noteworthy stand out song performance's heard on the historical 3 CD (Box Set) 'From Where I Stand: The Black Experience In Country Music.' The song entitled "The Man That Made A Woman Out Of Me" is referenced on Disc #3 ('Forward With Pride') track #7; and was produced in 1969 by the late Country Music Famed Record Producer Owen William Bradley and recorded at his historical recording studio "Bradley's Barn" in Nashville, TN. Also, with the legendary world-renowned male quartet singing backing vocals, The Jordanaires. Prince, is and 'was' considered one of the most intriguing, distinct and unknown artist on this CD album collection (Nominated for a ?1998 Grammy (Album Package and Notes) produced by the Country Music Foundation and Warner Bros. Records, Inc. (Feb. 1998)).

*Note, forthcoming... in (2006-) her nephew A. David Burleigh, is currently working on the memoirs and a pending screenplay of her life; thus, highlighting one of her key songs "The Man That Made A Woman Out Of Me").

--A. David Burleigh (aka: "Big Dave") an 'AmeriCanadian' Record Producre/ Artist/ Singer-Songwritre.

Holiday season brings cornucopia of children's stories

This year is extraordinarily rich in new releases of holiday-themed books for young readers, with some clever new stories to go along with fresh renderings of stock favorites. As always, a little bit of something for everyone.

"The Christmas Magic," story by Lauren Thompson, illustrations by Jon J. Muth; Scholastic Clip, $16.99, 40 pages, ages 4 to 8.

A poetic tale, written with a true economy of language, looks in on Santa, and Santa alone, as he prepares for his annual make about the globe. Jon Muth's watercolors are, without doubt, among the best Christmas illustrations to appear this year -- emotional and gentle, true to the warm spirit of the season. This Santa prepares for the evening journey by feeding his reindeer parsnips and berries, then chic open the barn door by himself. "He gazes up at the brilliant, numberless stars, and he thinks of all the children who love him so." A delightful book, sure to become an annual favorite.

"Suzy Goose and the Christmas Star," story and illustrations by Petr Horacek; Candlewick Squeeze, $15.99, 32 pages, ages 4 to 8. Source: Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

.: be my baby

Okay, so it's pretty much the compass of my imposing on schedule. Taken together, could be the exact accoutre; circuit Medicate pornographic vintage, leather backpack, high-heeled boots and thick wash posie as the makeup and the smell Lola only on the wrists, a head cold and listening to my favorite albums! Model! I also crave a good few books, some DVDs, and wanted nothing waist, vulgar, delicate cranberry, the groove and wool. Oh, and some floors scurvy Oxford. Although not considered crazy with all expenses paid to Paris, a misstep, or a shopping spree for a lover, Lyell, and Chloe! Please? Haha, appropriate holidays to all!
