I purchased this carrier for my daughter when she gave birth to my precious granddaughter. It is perfect for their walks in the parks even as an infant just 5 weeks old. When traveling on the plane with an infant it serves as the best way for my daughter to be hands free while baby sleeps. The back support makes it more comfortable to be active for long periods of time. It was a great purchase and it was the best price by as much as 30 dollars.

Babybjorn baby carrier is a back saver...
I own one of these, and I also purchased one for my sister in law and her husband who just had their 1st baby. The Active offers back support which really makes a BIG difference. If you are in doubt then next time when you visit Babies R Us check out and try on the floor models of the Baby Bjorn carriers. One thing to keep in mind is, if you live in a warm state then you might want to look at the the Synergy carrier which has a mesh material which would make it cooler (for the parent and the child) when using the carrier.

The BEST baby carrier
I bought this BabyBjorn as a gift for a friend, since I have used my own for the past 2.5 years and LOVE IT! I had a c-section with both my babies and found it too difficult to carry the stroller and instead opted to use my baby carrier instead. I use it for EVERYTHING! Whether it's keeping the baby quiet while I make supper or do errands to traveling to doctor appointments by bus. It is so light, so comfortable and fits so well, when you take the time to properly adjust the straps. It is the best baby carrier on the market. My baby is already one (weighing 22lbs) and I still use it and we both enjoy it!

Easy to get around
At first it was hard to figure out how to use it but once I got the hang of it I use it all the time. Where ever I go my baby goes and baby doesn't mind it as long as I am walking around. I am so glad to finally get things done and baby is happy.

Great for traveling
We used this carrier recently on baby's first trip via airplane. It was great carrying him around in the airport and having my hands free for luggage and other stuff. The carrier is sturdy and comfortable. I was able to sit on the plane with him strapped in asleep, which was nice. We used the carrier with him facing him forward as well. The nice bonus with this carrier, and I suspect with other carriers, too, is that you don't have to take him out of it when you go through the metal detector at the airport security gate, since the carrier has no metal parts. This is especially wonderful if your baby is already asleep and you don't want to disturb him/her just to get through security.

The only downside with the carrier that we've found is that it's pretty difficult to adjust it for various baby sizes. The carrier did not hurt my back at all, and I'm fairly petite with an average-size baby.

Good for small baby but then hurts shoulders a lot.
I like that this is organic and has no bad materials. Also, very sturdy construction. Works well for quite young baby. My husband and I used for a lot of "mall walking" during my maternity leave in the dead of winter in Minnesota. However, even with the "lumbar support" this thing will still kill your shoulders within 30-60 mins depending on the size of your kid. Also, if you put baby facing outward his legs really splay open and it just seems really bad, ergonomically speaking.

Good all-purpose carrier for cooler weather
This carrier takes some getting used to, but overall is a very solid baby carrier, and is as good as it gets for a child who insists on facing forward. Our daughter is now 17 pounds and we are still using it, and looking at the Synergy for warmer weather. You definitely need to be mindful of your posture -- shoulders back, stand up straight -- or you will kill your back. The Ergo is much more comfortable, but my daughter will not face inward for more than 15 minute without pitching a fit (and trust me, I've tried. She can cry for a long, long time). Compared to the regular Baby Bjorn, this takes quite a bit of pressure off my shoulders. I think of it as the strength training I generally can't work into my schedule. If we didn't have this, we'd have to use the stroller, and we find that far too limiting for our lifestyle. And we love the color.

Couldn't live without it!
I knew once my husband went back to work, this would be a requirement for me if I was going to get anything done around the house. We worked with it a few times together to make sure I could use it by myself. It's very sturdy and supportive for my son's head and neck. Sometimes he won't settle down anywhere except right next to me. This makes it so I can comfort him and still have the use of both hands!

we love it!
It was intimidating at first on how to put it together, but my friend put it together for me and I have loved using it. Now I see clearly how it goes together, and it isn't really that difficult. It is actually a very smart design where everything is color coded so you couldn't put the wrong parts together.
It really gives a lot of back support and is comfortable to use. It is a great alternative to using a stroller all the time, especially for going shopping in stores with small aisles....a lot less clumsy.
You can loosen the straps and even breast feed your baby in the carrier which is very convenient when out and about.
My only regret was that we are going into summertime and I am thinking that perhaps the one that has mesh to breathe more might have been a better choice.
This is an excellent quality product, but I think it may be too warm in the summer....it would be perfect for winter and cooler months and I guess we'll see how the summer goes.
My suggestion is get one - and get the lighter one if it's summertime that you'll be using it most.

Wow, it's like a miracle...
We purchased the Bjorn Synergy carrier for our newborn daughter, and it has been one of the best investments in gear that we've made. She LOVES being in the Bjorn, and the head support for her as a newborn is excellent. When she's fussy, putting her in the Bjorn immediately calms her down. Sometimes she'll fall asleep, but other times she'll be bright-eyed and spend her time looking around and taking in the sights as we go about our chores.

Also, a note for tall folks. I'm 6'5" and my wife is 5'11", and we are both able to use this carrier comfortably. At first I felt I couldn't use it, even with the straps at the longest settings, because the lumbar support panel sat up way too high on my back, but then we figured out that the lumbar support will slide down along the straps, and allows for adjustments that are NOT SHOWN IN THE MANUAL. All the manual says about the lumbar support is that you should tighten the lumbar straps first, it does not describe that the lumbar support is mobile and can be adjusted up and down the straps. Once we figured this out, I was able to comfortably wear the carrier.

Another nice feature is the fabric, which is an open mesh weave. We live in Central Texas, and the heat here in the summer is oppressive, and the winters don't really get cold, and the mesh fabric allows for us and our daughter to be as comfortable as possible when we're outside. In fact, we were almost ready to purchase the Baby Bjorn Baby Air Carrier, Grey/White because of the open weave, but then we discovered that the Synergy is made from the same material, but also includes the lumbar support feature, which was very important to us.

So even though the carrier is a bit pricey, it has been worth every penny for us.

complex to put on
The original was so much easier to set up, adjust, and put on. Most of the time I get frustrated. So far, I tried putting my baby in it 10-15 times. Perhaps it will get better with practice. He does not like it yet so I don't get much practice.

Excellent carrier
This is an excellent baby carrier and is so comfortable to wear. My daughter loved being carried in it facing me, she'd nap away. Now that she's big enough she loves looking out. The back support is wonderful. I carried her through NYC for hours and never had any trouble with my back or shoulders. Great padding and adjustments. I particularly like that it's so breathable so neither of us get too hot.

Good carrier with lots of support
Serves its purpose. Great for when going grocery shopping. Seems breathable enough, but a bit stiff for my taste. Material is mesh but not as soft as I would have liked. Baby doesn't seem to mind though. I have an Evenflo Snugli for home use and it is much softer, minus the lumbar straps that Bjorn provides. All in all, am glad I got the top of the line Bjorn, especially since Amazon had it for alot cheaper than store price, free shipping, no tax! I originally bought it from Babys R Us, liked it, but returned it once I saw Amazon sold it for cheaper. I told Babys R Us since they couldn't match the price, they just lost some money. Ordered it here and am a happy, happy, customer. Good product to own, even better when you can save some money since it is indeed alot more expensive than most!

Excellent If You Have a Good Back and a Light Baby...
When my daughter was looking for baby carriers, I really encouraged her to purchase a Baby Bjorn Synergy carrier. The mesh material seemed as if would would allow for good air circulation, and I felt it would be comfortable for the baby and for the person carrying the child. Several of the individual who would be using the carrier are hot-natured, so the lighter, aerated fabric seemed to be a real positive. Further, I liked the fact that one could position an older infant facing outward while still carrying the child on one's front. Since my daughter was able to work from home, this seemed to be an ideal way for her to keep her baby close while allowing him to have a good view of his world. Additionally, it seemed the outward facing position would help keep him from grabbing her lips or the telephone during teleconferences. As the Synergy is one of the few carriers on the market that allows the baby to face outward, while being carried on the adult's front side, it seemed to be a fine choice.

Unfortunately, we found that for all its positive features, the Synergy was not everything we expected it to be. The Baby Bjorn Synergy might have worked well if all the adults carrying the baby had had healthy backs. We thought the lumbar support was to have helped in this area. Instead, we found that because of the waist strap, the baby's weight was concentrated on our lower back instead of resting on our hips as weight would with a good quality backpack. My son-in-law is an avid hiker and even he could not reconfigure the Baby Bjorn so that the weight was distributed more comfortably. Further, our grandson was and is a large child - so using the Baby Bjorn Synergy for more than 30 minutes is out of the question - anyone who did so, even those with healthy backs, had significant back discomfort. Thus, we were unable to use the Synergy for carrying the baby for any length of time. This is quite disappointing as he is interested in seeing the world and loved riding on our front when any of us carried him that way.

Perhaps if we all had healthy backs and a lighter child to carry, the Baby Bjorn Synergy would have received a higher rating. However, the expense of this item is greater than its utility and I cannot give it a higher rating. I would recommend looking at the Beco carrier which has excellent lumbar support and is easily adjustable for multiple users.
